General Two Stroke Talk / New Idea for a Project but need help!
« on: September 29, 2011, 10:11:55 PM »
Ok so I was looking at some late model cr's 2000 and newer, but i recently came across an ad for a 1986 cr 250 that's all disassembled and just needs to be rebuilt. He says it ran before he took it apart and that all the new parts for the rebuild come with the bike. My problem is I've never rebuilt an engine before and don't really know how to or more importantly where I can find the specs? Does anyone know where I can find the specs to set everything too/how hard it is to rebuild something like this? I have done pretty much everything except engine work on my current bike, and never have done clutch work. What do you guys think? It seems like a good winter project. Or if anyone knows a post where it lays out step by step how to rebuild the engine please let me know!

General Two Stroke Talk / 2000 cr 250 vs. 2003 cr 250?
« on: September 25, 2011, 08:33:47 PM »
Just a quick question guys, is there much difference between a 2000 and a 2003 cr 250? Probably gonna buy one of the two just not really sure which one and their around the same price so thats not really the issue. Just wondering if there is anything noticeably better on one year?

Technical / Brakes
« on: May 09, 2010, 12:37:39 PM »
I was thinking of upgrading to the new oversized wavy rotors because i heard they actually make a noticeable difference, but was wondering if there was something else i should focus on first? Im injured and out for maybe another week and bored out of my mind. Im trying to find a way to have fin with my bike still so if anyone has done something the loved to their bike let me know! i already have a full pipe and reeds and thought brakes would be something that i use frequently that would make sense to upgrade.

Technical / bike running rich
« on: May 06, 2010, 04:05:48 PM »
OK so here's another question for those brave enough to attempt to answer. My bike was idleing to low and would die in about a minute but rides fine and if you give it gas while idleing it wont die. I switched the plug today and it idles a lot better and sounds better too. The old plug was black and even had some almost liquid exhaust on it, to lean the Carb would I just back the air screw out? Going slowly and checking how it runs? Or should I keep it a little rich and just change the plug more? Thanks for the help

Technical / Putting a silencer on
« on: May 02, 2010, 06:19:43 AM »
Ok so I just got a fmf shorty for my bike, i already have a gnarly header and vforce reeds on it. My question is will i need to rejet or adjust anything with carb? Also is there any harm in putting the silencer on and firing it up to see how it runs?

General Two Stroke Talk / FMF Silencer
« on: April 17, 2010, 07:18:07 PM »
threads in this section seem to get more attention so i figured id ask here. I just got a powercore 2 silencer for my bike but it already has the header and reeds done to it. it runs fine now but will i need to rejet after installing it? or should i be all set because i already put the header and reeds on and got it running good

Technical / Seat Cover and graphics
« on: April 04, 2010, 06:58:41 AM »
Ok so I've never done either before but im assuming its pretty straight forward. I have new plastics as well so they wont be dirty, but is it just as simple as it seems? Wipe the plastics off and put the graphics on? is there any trick to it to make the graphics tacky? and for the seat cover do you just staple the new one where you want it? Just figured id ask before i did it

General Two Stroke Talk / Racing and Engine Displacement
« on: March 29, 2010, 07:17:54 PM »
So I'm looking more into how exactly two stroke motors work and i became very intrigued about engine size. why are 250 2 strokes not in the same class as the 250 f's? they are the same engine size just different mechanically. I also have always heard or been told that four strokes have more power, when it seems that is not the case. Sure the type of power maybe different but a 250 2 stroke would leave a 250f in the dust. Shouldn't 450 f's race against 450 2 strokes not 250 2 strokes? Whats the deal with that?

General Two Stroke Talk / Just got a 2 stroke!
« on: March 24, 2010, 09:35:18 PM »
Just traded my rmz 250 for a sweet 05 kx250 ! im glad to be back on a 2 stroke, i have a question though. the bike i bought came with a bunch of sweet parts including v force reeds. To my understanding they have something to do with air flow? can anyone explain them better to me?
