Technical / 3.5mm stereo socket wiring
« on: November 11, 2011, 06:34:23 AM »
Can't help ya on the wiring. But aint that socket a tad to big? I used one from an old Nokia phone and soldered the wire from the charging cable to a mic. It seems allot more compact then your socket.

Could be mistaken tho, just trying to help.

Great find, looks mint. If your looking for a cool video of a 125 specilist , that is having a on day. Watch 98 Unadilla  125 1st moto Ithink. Robby Renard  runs everyone down, including RC, then pulls away and makes it look easy. One of the best 125 rides of all time.

Do you have a link??

Anyways... That 125 is mint! Wish I had a bike like that!

2 stoke is easyer and cheaper to adjust to your comfort and wishes. You can switch PV springs, play around with exhausts, adjust the squish, add some flywheel weight, etc.
Allot of options to suit the bike to your needs without spending thousands of dollars.

http://www.ktmtalk.com/ (if you did not already knew the website) Loads of woodriders over there that have experience with finetuning a smoker to their needs.

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Differences in 2001 Cr250R to current?
« on: September 24, 2011, 11:31:31 AM »
The power valve setup on the 01 is better.  The newer motor is quirky but can be made to run strong.  But honestly if you're not in a position to take advantage of the slight chassis difference there's no reason to upgrade.  I'd definitely just stick with what you have and ride. Invest in getting the correct springs for your weight and keep the bike fresh.
Indeed, it wil be more of an upgrade then buying a bike with an updated chassis. The difference of the frame update is hardly (or not at all) noticeable for an amateur rider. A suspension upgrade on the other hand is very wel noticeable and wil make u feel more comfortable on it, thus resulting in faster (and safer!) riding.

Yep, buddy of mine took his kxf250 out for a spin down a gravel road.  Cruisin around 40 mph when all of a sudden.  BOOOOM!!!  Rod came out the front of the motor.  His bro connection yielded $1659 for parts alone.  Another $800 or so in labor.  So he's given up on the koolaid and is putting a 250 two stroke motor in that chassis.  It's an 09 I believe...  The best thing is he just had a new top end put in it before this ride.
Someone really screwed that rebuilld up then. Engines can always blow but they do blow for a reason!
Bad part is it's considered a race engine so you don't have to count on any warranty after u put your month's earnings in it.

4 strokes are actually fine and reliable IF u pull the engine apart regulary, but that's damn expensive! So people just keep riding and blow it up -> even more expensive.

I often check(ed) my 2 stroke engines for wear and stuff and by doing so i keep maintenance cost to the minimum. I could make it cheaper and be lucky to have an engine that does not seize, or i could be unlucky and blow my top and bottom end to pieces. Rather spend that little extra to save a big bill, ppl should be doing the same with a 4t but it's to damn expensive for most.

I'm swearing in church now but i loved my 450 KTM to death, it was fun and easy to ride as a beginner and i found the loud roar sexy.
Downpart was that i did not learn a single thing on that 'stick it in gear and cruise around' thumper and that i dumped loads of money into it to keep it running.

I try to consume no energydrink crap, sometimes i do but not very often. And certainly not before, during or after riding, water and food to keep me hydrated and energised, thats it.
