Yes, that was me criticizing Maico,
It's about time
Seriously,I don't blame Mike at all and don't think the question is the least bit out of line.As a matter of fact,I was thinking the same thing-talk is cheap.I can understand all the import issues etc but in the end that all means #ick to the consumer.
All they want is to see it imported, see it tested, try it and see a reasonable distribution network with good support.
It sounds cool to me and I hope it works out but the older you get the more jaded you get.I've been reading about the great Maico comeback for years and well remember all the hype with the Cannondale among other amazing new makes/models.
As for Mike,he's obviously a knowledgeable dude-he has a Zep avatar! (insert rockin' smiley here)
yes it was Ohlins.Didn't Ohlins make a 360 cc kit for the YZ250 at one time?
Not sure if it was Ohlins, but yes... Hung out with Mickey Dymond back in 1989 at DeAnza when he was riding one. I think they even ran them in the 500 Nats at one point.
well it was kind of a tounge in cheek answer. i mean, you could try ATF as it does have a high viscosity index. i'm not sure if it is as high as shock fluid which generally has a vi of around 400. for me personally, i just use Motul, Silkolene, Redline, etc. shock fluid as i am not into that kind of experimentation. i don't mind taking a shock back apart for a valving change but to have to pull it apart because of using a substandard fluid and experiencing massive shock fade is a waste of time and nitrogen to me. but i'm not an oil chemist. who knows? maybe that Mobil 1 ATF is just like suspension fluid.anything's possible.
who knows, is it possible to use ATF to refill the rear shock?
What do you mean, buddy I don/t want my shock to get stiff on a landing, or that kind of thing... ))
anything's possible.
