General Two Stroke Talk / The rise...fall & rise of Husqvarna.
« on: September 06, 2012, 02:43:05 AM »
When Husky's started to be made in Italy, they lost many long time dealers and along with that long time Husky owners. Husqvarna went from a power house off road company to next to Nothing in a couple of years.

The photo is my 430WR, about the last of the swedish built Husqvarna's

From my emails in the past following the resurrection of the Zundapp brand, the Main driving force was Giambattista Tarditi known by every Zundapp enthusiast as ?Titta? from Italy.

He had manufactured AMR motorcycles using the Sachs 7 speed air cooled engines in the later 1970?s and maybe the 1980?s?

I know that Mueller did build Zundapp powered bikes in the early 1970's.

AMR Brand from Italy

There's an individual in Germany by the name of Mueller whose name sometimes comes up when Zuendapp is mentioned. You might know him from the Mueller (WP) air fork of the early 90's or from a prototype all aluminum 125 MX shown in 1997. It seems he has built watercooled modified Zunni's in the past and I wonder if he is linked to this latest effort?

For those who haven't seen the new Fantic 125 or 250's, I have added a couple of photo's.

Now you can see why I was exited over the prospect of a Full size Zundapp 125.

Enjoy

I, more than anyone was hoping for a Modern Zundapp 125 or larger. I have been following the original progress of the 50 / 80 Water cooled Zundapp. The base models were a glossed over Fantic, but the racer versions were heavily worked on.
When I saw the new Fantic ( Gas Gas ) 125 , 250, 300. I immediately emailed the Factory website to inquire of new Zundapp models?

The reply from 11/2/2010 is as follows

Hello,
yes, we will offer 125 - 300 ccm 2T
Today I drive to Eicma in Milano to make a new contract for this models.

PS: I haven't seen or heard of any new info, One of the problems as I see it is Fantics are a Higher price than a Gas Gas in Europe and then to badge a Zundapp, I would think even higher?

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: "I will win on my KTM"
« on: August 13, 2011, 09:16:43 PM »
This is only a observation, from Past performances. If Jeremy didn't have his heart into racing, the answer is no. When jeremy was leaving Suzuki, he laid down and basically circulated in the outdoor Motocross season. When passed, he didn't fight back for his position. Then when he went to Yamaha, His winning ways came back.
I believe when he went to KTM, in my opinion, it was a step down from the other Factory support he had had in the past. Could he have run upfront, most likely, but win ??????

Now you say after KTM, he did have very good finishes on a 4 stroke 450 ( this is a different animal than a 250 2 stroke)

i don't think you guys are getting his post.  He is basically saying that magazines are helping push this whole 2 stroke thing, by saying things that don't mean much on the track, but do push people away from buying something.  Like saying the plastic is old looking etc.  But his point is that, plastic doesn't mean anything on lap times, but they persuade readers that it does kind of, by saying if it looks old, it must not be as fast.

What website are you looking at?   In the USA, Barker Bros. update their site on almost a daily basis with new model releases and Racing updates.

Can anybody tells frigging TM Racing to update their website? We are not in in the 90's anymore.. Awful site.

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Maico needs a 150
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:06:59 PM »
Maico's only 125's were based on the rotary valve 125 road race engine. The last produced was around 1979 or so? If any one has info on newer models please post the info.
I think the 144 / 150cc is perfect size weight combination for the Northeast woods riding.

I found a old photo of a Maico CR480 ???? never new they made this model  ;D

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Signing a waiver, any attorneys on here?
« on: November 11, 2010, 05:20:52 PM »
3 things to do when 50 people at your Motocross track are running around frantically and bleeding,
#1 Stop, calm down
#2 Take a deep breath,
#3 Reload and take better Aim  :o

I am glad everyone signed a Waiver, So Jack didn't see any Jail time !!!!!!

There was a motocross track that was formed for only a short period of time in Minnesota called Loghaven Mototrack.  The owner was a retired farmer and was no longer plowing his lands so he paid to have a motocross track built in his yard, I think his name was Jack Beaverton.  So, he consulted an attorney and he wanted to make sure he had a bullet proof waiver and he paid top dollar for it.  The opening day about 50 people showed up and signed the waiver that basically stated that anyone who got hurt on his property could not hold him accountable.  Since it was essentially an Open Track with no races that day, there were about 20 or so people on the track and another 20 or so standing around when about an hour after it opened, Jack came out with a shot gun and opened fire killing everyone.  He did not go to jail though and was not sued since he everyone had signed a waiver before riding on his property.

My advice is to have your friend consult a Attorney.

I did when I had a track on my Farm, The Attorney advised me not to have anyone ride at all.

But he knew I was going to have a track and ride anyway, so do Not have anyone sign a Waiver.  ( Individuals can not sign your rights away )
Note: A waiver insinuates that there is danger in riding on the property.

Yes, everyone has you sign a waiver, but they have insurance at all race tracks.

We road for a couple of years and had a person with 2 broken arms ( he had insurance and a office job, missed very little work)

Teenager Twisted knee, Father was a Doctor, had insurance, no problem

I am sure of many other bumps and bruises, no problems.

Remember in a Catastrophic injury, I am sure the ambulance chasers will file lawsuits.

Just my thoughts

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: New Fantics
« on: October 26, 2010, 04:54:24 PM »
I have followed Fantics for the last couple of years, The Zundapp 50 / 80 are Fantics that are modified with engine updates and BNG.

The Dollar to Euro exchange rate is going to hurt many Euro brands, Currently the Fantic 250 would be over 11,500 Dollars.

Technical / Re: Steering Dampner
« on: October 26, 2010, 01:55:35 PM »
My 1st choice is WER ( I have owned 2) Part of my decision was not to have a dampner on the handlebar area. The WER unit mounts on the lower triple clamp.

Thanks
