General Two Stroke Talk / cr500 ?
« on: April 01, 2012, 04:33:51 AM »
Yeah, I've got 3.
'82, '85 and a '92.
They're all a blast. Just remember to not ride it like a 125 or it will spit you off in a heart beat. Short shift it and lean over the bars. The acceleration will make your eyes bleed.
No need to do much to any of them. More power, torque and pure acceleration than 99% of riders can take advantage of.
The point of these pics is, usually a guy will have more than one.
They're hard to find.

All dressed up to race

Here's a holeshot on my '82, Mighty Whitey #84x.

What motor/carb/pipe are you running in the Penton?

AT1 engine, 26mm carb, the pipe is a modified Zundapp.

The Pentaha SC is done, sorry I haven't updated this thread.
Here is Sam riding it for the first time. It's been taken down and painted also.
It's ready to debut at Devils Ridge AHRMA national soon.
Here's a couple of short vids. Tony

I've played with vintage bikes for the last 15 or so years and, while I've stumbled across ultra rare bikes like Gilera 125 MXs and Carabela 250 Enduros, I've never found a first or second generation YZ.Where did they all go?. :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

They're being raced in AHRMA.
I know of 3 guys that have multiple YZa's including the uber rare 360, 580 made worldwide.
I myself only have the 125, this is the 4th one I've owned.

btw, No riding across the steet for a while.
They were spreading chicken "fertilizer" yesterday.
We had some horrendous rains last night and more expected today so maybe it will wash in.
Of course, that just means the grass will grow and I won't be able to see any big obstacles in the grass :-

Here's a pic of the '72 360 and a better vid of my 250, I taped over the mic hole for less wind noise.

I sold a 73 MX250 on Ebay once and I still have a side panel or two laying around somewhere.

A friend recently gave me a pile of vintage magazines and after leafing thru. them I was surprised to learn that there was a model that preceded the MX250 - the 250 DT-1M.

Don't have that one but do have the 360.
The '71 models were clearly GYT kitted enduros, the '72 models were the first mx.

A french immigrant in our neighborhood had a Vespa back in the day.
He would cowtrail with us and I have to tell you it was a fun machine.
The gear shifter was the left handgrip. You pull in the clutch and twist the whole grip to shift.
Seems like it had a leading link fork and just soaked up the bumps in that pasture, and stuck like glue too!

Tony, that is too funny. too bad I can't show it to my kids  ;D
I wanted to send it to the guys at the 'duro site but I would probably get banned!

And au contraire, it's 491.
It's a freshly scraped 1985 CR500 jug.
If I showed you guys the porting and the head your eyes would bug out of their sockets and I can't be held responsible for that. :P

Maybe this pic will make it's way around the world and back to the offices of the AMA? ;D

Someday, my buddy will get my frame painted and I might get a video of this monster, just to show that yes Virginia, dinosaurs do rule the earth.

I don't think I've ever been so scared, and had an erection simultaneously.

That's what happened when I flat tracked my ATC250R 3 wheeler on a half mile dirt track  in 1985. :)

I don't see the point of that conversion unless the 2000 RM250 chassis was simply awesome?

Good luck and be safe! Can't wait for your cam video of the race!

I CAN'T WAIT! Love that bike and it's the most fun I have had in a long long time.

This weekends race is going to be sick.

X491 :) :) :)
