Digging the tusk wheel set as well, and I'm completely shocked by what you're getting for $500. Probably my next or second buy.

I've heard some talk about how they're heavier. I think that's a plus for off-road. More material the harder it should be to hurt them? If they are a little heavier is that really going to effect a track rider?

Meh, after riding desert for the last 5 years, it gets annoying. It gets to the point where riding with other people becomes a chore when it is dusty. Mid summer is a pain in the ass with the heat, and you're constantly looking for rain as that's when it gets awesome. If I had to chose between open desert riding and tight woods, the woods hands down. Can't imagine what it would be like in Nevada or Utah. Though I do wish to ride Moab one of these days.

Dust got me three years ago! Four broken ribs, punctured collapsed lung, nerve damage to my right outer thigh and a separated shoulder. Five days in the trauma ward with a chest tube. If you've never had a chest tube you don't want to know! Not trying to start a "scar wars" here but it was one of my better get offs! I was back on my bike in about three and a half weeks! My riding partners took me over a 3 mile whoop section just to make sure I was ready to go! It hurt but it was what I needed to get back in the saddle. I don't ride in the dust anymore! If I can't see the throttle goes closed.

It's about all I do besides a few beers and work! I always wonder how you guys in the mid-west and back east dodge all those trees? Then I realize we're doing the same thing out here except it's rocks and more high speed except in this video! Poor performance on my part in this video! Just wasn't feeling it today and I have not been on the 500AF for about 5 months so it was learning how to ride all over again! Going out again tomorrow on an 80 mile loop at a place called Searchlight. Should be doing better tomorrow?

Been awhile since I rode the 500AF! Had a little trouble keeping a decent pace!

Sounds like a good theory to me! Maybe all KTM needs to do is find the critical speed frequency that is causing the resonance (self-excitation) and change the pipe design a little so it doesn't or won't vibrate itself apart. Maybe something as simple as some rubber tubing over the springs may be enough to dampen or change the destructive frequency enough? I'm trying to sound smarter than I really am! 8)

Well hes had some EXC pipes brought in that actually cracked on the inside, and the exhaust port scavenging dragging the debris back in to the motor  8)

Thought about doing another ride with my cracked pipe. Glad I didn't! :o

PC II maybe an inch below the front part of the rails and even with the rear section. I'm using an E-line guard so I'm not to concerned about it. I do the think the OEM sat a little higher and didn't hang as much below the frames rails but with the pipe cracking all the time I guess it didn't matter where it hung. KTM does a lot of stuff right but two stroke pipes isn't one of them! ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley">
