For everybody that watched the vid did you not expect Lytle of all people to jump on a 2 stroke Ktm and tear off on a hot lap?  Seems like the marketing minds at Ktm or anyone that works for them for that matter truly doesnt respect the BRRRAAAAPPP!   hahahaha

General Two Stroke Talk / The latest 2 stroke travisty!

So I was cruising RacerX online as I do everyday when I came across a video by the boys over at Ktm.  Now I like Ktm, I think they have some solid bikes and a great team but this video may just have ruined the brand for me once and for all.  The jist is that each rider calls the next and proceeds to give them a solid  BRAAAAAAPPPPPP,  this goes on for a bit with each rider a little more enthusiastic than the last.  The Vid culminates with a call by Casey Lytle the team manager (and former two stroke bad ass), Caseys out testing and rather than use his personal skill to BRAAAAPPPP hands his iphone to the mechanic who holds the phone up to a .....................4 stroke  :o and begins to throttle up the john deer on cue.    So my obvious question is when the hell did BRAAAAAPPPP get takin over by the 4chokes?    BRRAAAPP is uniquely a 2 stroke trait and honestly should be trademarked as so.  Everyone knows if you want to emulate a 4 stroke you simply use the same motion and intensity needed to effectively motor boat a set of large breasts or perhaps the belly of an unsuspecting child.   Am I crazy or do I have something here, perhaps by trademarking and collecting the royalties  for BRAAAAAPP into a fund we could make a "donation" to the AMA to "re-examine" the current displacement rule.  Just a thought.    Heres the vid, see what you think.

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Great YZ250 history article in MXA

Just a general question for Sh*ts and giggles.  I found a 1990 CR250 just sitting outside of a muffler place today, beat up but not so bad that I wouldnt consider riding it, what would that be worth???   Im not thinking of this for my track day bike but rather as something I could restore back to original.  Imagine that Im trying to restore a 2 stroke before I've even bought a 2 stroke, I don't have the bug I have the pandemic!

So to elaborate, '90 CR250, plastic is shot, pipe is WAY dented, chain and sprocket are hooped, bars and levers are bent and the tires look like they could be original.  It looks like it was ridden drunk and put away broken.  So what do you think I should offer him?

Thanks guys, the advice and suggestions are just what I expected to get here, solid for sure.   Sounds like the concensus is that bolt on #1 should be a flywheel weight which makes sense in terms of power delivery.  The last bike I had was an '02 Crf450, I held onto it for 3 years and to be honest the last two years almost bankrupted me with maintenance costs, the idea that I can get back to doing my own top ends and for a 1/4 of the price puts a huge smile on my face.

If I ended up with something from '01 to '03 will I have trouble getting parts?
Just thinking ahead.

First off, what a wicked site this is, just shows how far the 2 stroke movement has come since 1998.  I say Maybe in the subject because I havent ridden a 2 stroke since 1999 and back then I switched because of the mellow power delivery of a friends yz400.  I had a couple of solid get offs on my 250 that I attributed to a hit that was too hard to control, riding that tractor seemed to make more sense at the time and it did keep me off the ground.   Ive been off bikes for the last 5 years and when I do make my comeback it will be on a pretty tight budget, I thought this might be a great time to buy a 2 stroke.  My question is if I were to buy a 2001 to 2003 250 2 stroke of any brand what could I do to make the "hit" a little easier to take and more importantly keep me off the ground.  I want a 2 stroke for all the practical reasons but the idea of the power band scares me just a little bit, I imagine anyone that has ridden or raced a modern 4 stroke has to understand where Im coming from, I hope.   Thanks again to the site and any advice in advance.
