General Two Stroke Talk / tried out an rmz 250
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:23:25 PM »
so last week I was able to woods ride an rmz for a day. here are my observations-
the bike I normally ride is a 98 kx125 for reference
this bike feels like it pulls the same from idle to limiter
actually feels slower than the 125 on the top (probably is faster)
it made me a lazy rider- riding trail in 3rd at 1/4 throttle rather than screaming 1st and 2nd
it handles amazing- modern chassis
feels much heavier in the turns
much easier to jump
not terribly loud (drd with sparky insert
ive never tried a 250 2 stroke but im sure it would be more exciting.
so anyway who has actually ridden a 4 stroke? or is everything said about 4 strokes come from what has been read or what your friends have told you?

I love my 98 125! I have been riding for two years and have no where near the skill to upgrade. the onlything that need to upgrade is the most important part- THE GUY sitting on it For the 125 its a win win situation, #1. no one expects you to win, so if you dont its no big deal. #2. If you do win everone else just looks silly.

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: 2010 2 stroke predictions coming true
« on: April 05, 2010, 03:22:40 PM »Here's an interesting link. Seems the big OEM's are not as smart as they like to think. Look at the percentage of KTM's over the other makes. I know I went into a dealer looking for a 2010 KTM 150sx and was told those sell as fast as he gets them and he could sell 10 more if he had them. KTM is listening to the population and giving what they want.

I wanted to buy a 250sx earlier this year but i was told they are all sold out for 2010. that was in late january.

Yester I took the first step to reduce the noise emissions from my bike by repacking the silencer. When I was riding with my biddies they kept commenting on how quiet it was. While they were taking a break they said they thought I kept crashing because they couldnt hear me at a distance. I encourage all members to repack your silencer often. The packing was only 8$. If people start realizing how much quieter two strokes are than four strokes they are that much more likely to be on top.

I usually just freeride at on land owned by friends of mine. I just feel bad when my friends who are nice enough to let me ride can hear me when i go by. I also dont want their neighbors to get annoyed too. although its about a 1/4 mile to the next house, i want to be the only one to enjoy the sound of my screaming 125.

I just read the article about the enduro event won by a two stroke with a DB snorkel equiped. I have checked out the DB snorkel site and it looks interesting. I am considering buying one because I find the reduction in noise very appealing. what are your guys thoughts?

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: KTM reveals race-ready electric motorcycle, production within 2 years

First off i want to say that i love this site. I have been lurking on here for at least 6 months now.
I currently ride a 98 kx125 and am all for 2 strokes.
as for electric bikes, i find a few things appealing-
1. no exaust Noise!- this will contribute to more riding areas
2. matinence- no tops ends, bottom ends, jetting, air filter cleanings, oil changes
3. throttle response
4. weight- although it is only marginally ligher than the two strokes now, image what a few years of R&D could do
5. power control- it would have a near perfectly flat torque curve. i see the biggest advantage in technical off-road riding. for racing this could also be beneifical to faster lap times. however, i will agree that it might not be as fun to ride. keep in mind they could always make a setting to make it deliver power like a 2 stroke
