General Two Stroke Talk / So i was in my local dealership the other day

Chump I agree.  I just built a 2002 CR250 in March o 2011.  I could of bought a new bike for what I put into my CR.  I have been thinking about selling it to get another 450 because I can ride the four stroke faster.  But I started thinking.  Do I want to ride faster, or have more fun?

Two strokes are making a come back.  They are cheaper to maintain.  And more fun to ride.  So for majority of riders who don't race.  That is the perfect combo.....

Entirely possible.I only use them once but there's a good chance you'll be ok.Keep an eye on it and maybe retorque it again after your next ride and see how it goes.

Thanks Ford.  I rode today and it seemed to have stopped leaking after a re torque.  But I won't know until I clean all the oil off the two head nuts and ride one more time.

General Two Stroke Talk / 2002 CR250 cylinder head bolt leaking
« on: May 28, 2011, 09:29:50 PM »
I noticed that my two cylinder head bolts closet to the water inlet where spooging oil after my rebuild.  Only about 2 hours on motor.  I tighten them up a little and it seemed to stop.  But where would the oil be coming from?

When I did the initial rebuild I noticed I had forgot to install the head guide pins on my new head.  So I had to take the cylinder off.  Is the cylinder head gasket reusable after tightening down one time?  Or is it crushable and only good once?  My gasket did not have a "up" on it.  I installed it with tab back but possibly upside down the second time compared to the first time.  Would that have made a difference in sealing?

Anybody have an 'last gen CR250R? I'm looking for actual experience in making more power with mine. I've thought about V-Force Reeds, porting/polishing, and possibly a big bore kit. I race Vet-b and I weigh 195 so I need a little extra juice.

Skooli I weigh 205lb's and my 2002 is ported/polished, 110 VP race gas,  V-Force Reeds, Pro Circuit Works pipe and silencer, stock gearing, 10oz stealthy flywheel.

I also have Factory Connection Suspension which is the best mod I made to my bike.  Good suspension that is setup properly will make your bike faster than any other mod in my opinion.

But most people can't even ride a stock bike to it's full potential.  So I also feel a lot of mods people do are for bragging rights.

Thanks for the reply guys.  My radiator fluid is a 50/50 mix that is made for aluminum.  I will install a catch bottle today and do a few laps and see what I come up with.

Technical / Coolant loss on my CR250
« on: May 27, 2011, 11:01:37 PM »
Just built a 2002 CR250.  I have a set of after market radiators.  So it takes the stock radiator capacity from 38oz to around 44oz.  If I fill the radiator to the complete top I seem to loose about 4oz.  I don't smell radiator fluid out the exhaust.  No coolant in clutch oil.  And no oil in the coolant.  So I assume the radiators are just equalizing by dumping some coolant out the overflow when I am riding?
