I own this very year and make. If I were you I would be all over this bike if you can get it for a reasonable price. There was only one flaw with this bike IMO, the piece of shit mikuni tmx carb it came stock with. Take my word for it, DO NOT spend any time or money trying to jet it. No matter what you do it will not run correctly for very long because of varying temps, altitudes and humidity. I have been riding for 30 years and have never had such a frustrating time trying to jet a bike before. So that being said, go to e bay and buy a used 38mm keihin pwk off a 05 or later yz (i got one shipped to my door for 42 bucks) leave the tps disconnected, jet accordingly and kiss all jetting and poor performance woes goodbye. If honda would have speced this carb with this year cr it would have won all the shootouts it was in. This one mod on the 04 bike makes it run clean from top to bottom, its that big of a difference.

I wonder how Honda felt about him coming close to winning on a 5 year old bike that they dont even sell anymore? I was stoked to see this as I absolutely love riding and racing my 04 cr250 in the woods, the thing is just awesome. 8)

Non-Moto / Re: Mt Hood Closing over 90% of the Riding Area
« on: September 03, 2010, 12:25:11 PM »
That is JetZ's riding area, I don't know anything about why they are changing it.  The area I ride is under seperate management and nothing is being closed there at least.

Not to pick on you, but its this exact kind of attitude that keeps getting more and more riding areas shut down. Some tend to think it's no big deal right up until the time its their own riding area thats being shut down. Don't for a second think that that any area you are curently riding at is safe at all. The end goal of these people is to put an end to all ohv use period.

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Worth the Weight.

John,

Long time lurker, short time poster;)

I just updated my bike list, and yes I live in the US, Oregon as a matter of fact. I sold two of my old bikes for a newer one about a year ago, but honestly, come on, bagging on what I ride shouldn't preclude what my opinions of what this new Maico is like or not. Jetz is right, I do think I asked a fair question that still hasn't been answered, when are we going to see this bike tested?

I know its almost blasphemous to criticize Maico here, but I keep hearing all these claims about how great this bike is but have yet to see anything to prove it. Let the bike speak for itself, is it that hard? I am simply anxious to see if it lives up to all the hype generated here. We've all seen claims by other manufacturers that this bike or that is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but few live up to the claim, anybody remember ATk, or Canondale?

Don't take this the wrong way I'm pullin for you guys, but when are you going to actually release one of these things for and actual test? I mean you guys keep leaking photos and talking about how great this thing is, but I for one am more interested to see how it stacks up against the very fine tuned YZ, KTM'S or even any of the 450's for that matter. Even this latest claim about being a little lighter then then YZ, so what, I mean if the frame flexes and wallows all over the track what good is a light weight wonder bike?

They way I look at it is, talk is cheap, lets see how it compares to some proven supercross bikes...

There are several reasons for lurkers.

1. I have to sign in and give my email address?  I have to make a password? I have to make a user name?  Crap, too much work.

2. I don't want anyone to know I like 2 strokes.

3. I'm too shy to post, someone might see it and I'll be humiliated.

4. I have nothing to say.

5. I'm a girl and I dont want to be harrased for a date or nude photo all day long.

6. I'm someone famous, like Sandra Bullock and I dont want anyone to know who I am.

7. The internet will kill you, must remain anonymous.

8. I'm 15 and my Parents dont know I use the computer.

9. I'm 40 and my Parents dont know I use the computer.

10. I'm a 4 stroke riding spy.

#10 applies to me...;)
