General Two Stroke Talk / Re: What does your home track look like?

However, this is what i think as my real hometrack. Bit further, 45 mins. But not so booooring to ride as the closest one.

Motocross Harri Kullas #151 training 2010 at Hyvinkää Finland

Both tracks are open five days a week and have sprinkles waterering systems. I'm kind of spoiled having nine tracks to choose in one hours radius :)

#151 (black Yamaha) has pre-booked to next summers 125 series, we'll see if he have actually time to participate....

This is kind of hometrack, at least it's closest. Only 10 mins from where I live. Thing is, I hate that track so haven't ridden here in two years ...

Motocross MX3 World Championships and MX2 European Championships race in Vantaa, Finland

Is the CR a 125 or a 144?

It's a 125. We have a new 125 series starting this spring, so no use for 144. Btw, nearly 200 riders have already pre booked to series :)

Yes, YZ does have a better engine. Wider powerband so easier to ride. But no reason to avoid CR because of that, difference is not that big.
Biggest advance YZ 125 have (my opinion) is suspension. Yamahas from 2006 onwards have SSS suspension which is really good. CR 125's have older model open chamber KYB's, which are good but not in SSS level.
All in all, CR is sure good enough stock to grab some C-level trophies :)
And CR's best part is reliability. It just simply last and last and last ..... even with little maitenance ;)

Technical / Re: '02 CR250 shock
« on: January 02, 2011, 05:35:44 AM »
250 forks are twin chamber 47mm Showas, shock is 50mm body Showa.
125 forks are open chamber 46mm Kybs, shock is 46mm body Kyb.

Both had new linkage and swingarm in 2005.

If you fix the Ohlins, try KYB shock oil (K2C). It helps.

btw. CRF250 shock is same lenght (498) and has same stroke (133). Doesn't know how it fits. At least it needs valving.

General Two Stroke Talk / Snowcross anyone?
« on: December 05, 2010, 10:37:41 PM »
What do you do when snow comes in to ground. Hold riding till summer or ride in snow or indoors?
Here (Finland) we plow tracks somewhat open and ride with stud tires. And yes weather is cold and daylight lasts only few hours. You get warm when riding , only bad thing is suspension stiffness when really cold.
Winter riding sure is different but really fun :)
Tracks usually get plowed for weekends. Last sunday half of the bikes were two strokes, mostly 125's. seems like everyone is preparing for next years 125 class :)
KTM has sold out 125's, theres waiting list on every dealer :)

Promoters are SML (SML = Finnish motorcycle association) and local clubs. Series is connected to MX2(lites?) and sidecar championship races. A club that wants a MX2 or sidecar championship race (held on sundays) must organise a MX125 league  race on saturdays, which here is a league series day. League classes are MXJ(under 18),MXB(over18),MXD(womens), MXV40&MXV50(vets,a championship class but organized with league) and now MX125 league too!!!
Series is at least seven races; four with MX2 and three with sidecars. Also any club can have MX125 class in their non championship races if they want :)

General Two Stroke Talk / Another country to have 125 series in 2011 !!!
« on: September 18, 2010, 11:20:36 AM »
Finland will have a new 125 class in 2011. Rules are somewhat laidback, rider must be over 13 years old, displacement max 125cc. Thats it. So four strokes have now equal  cc's  :D
Not yet an official Finnish championship series. If it's popular can have official status in 2012 :)

My two CR125's. Both 2007. CAS/Monster replica has now 134 hours. White Mugen tribute one has 320hours. Pics were taken in January. hotobucket.com/albums/ab45/125mxfi/Uusivuosi2010001.jpg[/IMG]
I   like  your  cr125,s very sharp. I  see  you  have  a VHM head   on  her, any performance gains ? And  a  Ohlins shock  where did you find that ?  How  much better than the stock shock, which is very good. I  have a  head and ear infection, trying  to  get  my  cr125,s  ready, 04  cr125  waiting on the  cylinder to be plated, bored and stroked,pc pipe, HGS BUD racing pipe 4 a 03 KX, fitted to my 04 cr125, and  a  06 cr125  I  put the 04  pc pipe on it, totally different bend, alot punchier-snappier. The icat  works great  on the  04, I   got  another icat  for the 06, from Alaska. It,s  the  only  place  that has  them, ever try the  icat ?
Real performance gains are hard to get on late model CR's if running on pump gas. Best gain moneywise if running pump fuel is HGS pipe/silencer combo, gives nice boost on mid. (btw, BUD and SRS pipes are just rebadged stock HGS.) .
VHM head has many different compression domes available, depending your other engine set-up and fuel.  So yes, it helps if everything else is in sync with it.
Both bikes have Ohlins now. Bought from local importer. They are not anymore in Ohlins production so shock to the red CR was built from parts, which is standart Ohlin procedure in discontinued models. They just give more confidence in rough track.
Ahh... I-Cat ... my opinion is if everything else is right it doesn't help a bit, white Mugen replica has one :/
