Clutch plates

Does anyone know what the acceptable width of the clutch plates should be on a yz250? More specifically '94. I can't find them in my manual, maybe I am looking in the wrong place  :-X

Well how about this much easier and less specific question; I want to make my header pipe shine again, so should I take a few minuets with a wire brush mounted on a grinding wheel, or sand blast it? I think the sand blasting would take the shine WAY down, but I'm not sure. It's stainless steal if I am not mistaken, it is a dyno racing ports pipe if that helps. Any tips or advise would be great. I have already tried some Scotch Bright, and emery paper but it didn't really help much.

Are you sure it is stainless not nickle plated.
If it is proper stainless a magnet wont stick.
Don't use a wire brush any way.
There are plenty of polishing pads you can get for stainless.

About the clutch plates, You should be able to find the specs on the web.

I tried the web, I'm not sure if all the years are the same or different. And I tried a polishing pad meant for refridgerators and stuff. It didn't work much, any recomendations?

I used a good old fashion SOS pad on my pipe.  It removed the stubborn spots and helped polish it a bit.  Its not perfect, but neither am I  :D

I will have to pick up one of those. I mean, my pipe isn't one of those shiny mirror-like FMF ones, I just want a little shine to mine, not to see myself in it  :P

While have you attention... What is the best way to clean powervalves? I have mine out and they have been a little neglected  :-X They have some build up on them, and I got a good part of it off, but what can I do to get the hard to reach crevasses and the stubborn stuff off?

Spray-on oven cleaner works great on power valves. It will break up the carbon deposits.

I used carb cleaner on it. And I took a tooth brushed sized wire brush to it as well. Came out nice. Also, a magnet stuck to my pipe, so it isn't stainless steel... Here a picture maybe you can tell me what it is?
