Proposal and Petition en-route to AMA
« on: February 14, 2011, 08:41:16 AM »
Finally got the proposal and petition printed out, updated, and sent to the AMA. I would have had it done last week, but had to go to Virginia for the whole week with my job. At any rate, here is the tracking number if you want to track it: 0310 3200 0000 4543 7314. It should get there on Wednesday to AMA's Kevin Crowther at Pickerington, OH. For some reason, I was thinking the AMA was in West Virginia, oh well...

Here's a little side note. I emailed the AMA, inquiring about homologation rules, and Al Ludington sent me the homologation application. I asked him how he was doing and he replied:

Hey Mark,
I'm at the Indy show. All good. I go to an sx/Mx managers meeting next week and depending on the agenda I might broach your petition and thoughts. I haven't seen a schedule for the meeting yet so I'm not sure what to expect. All the best.

Tech Director
AMA Pro Racing

Anyway, its good to know we have people in our corner.

Thanks Mark! I wish he said he was definitely broaching your petition and thoughts, not that he "might". But at least he is thinking about it and that's a good start.

Well, Al and Davey Coombs said they were for it. I've left a few messages with Kevin Crowther and will probably follow up with him today. I would like to talk to him over the phone to touch base, so we'll see what happens.

Thats gonna be an expensive phone call to Japan.  :o
As you know, the AMA office is located in Japan, near the the Big 4's headquaters, specially that of Honda...

But anyway, i still wish for the best. Hope this will work out, as a stepping stone to fully fair rules for all.

Ha, good point. Hopefully, Honda or the other Big 4 won't care anything about it, since it's a small change anyway, and the 2-stroke is still out-gunned.

Finally received an email from Kevin Crowther today:

Hi Mark,

I did receive your proposal and all the supporting documentation. I do appreciate the time and effort that you have put into this and I understand your passion. I will present your proposal during all of our meetings leading up to changes for next year and beyond. Obviously there are no guarantees but I wanted you to know that we do take your proposal seriously and it will be considered with all other proposals.

Best regards,

Kevin Crowther
Director AMA Supercross
American Motorcyclist Association
13515 Yarmouth Dr.
Pickerington, OH  43147

I asked him what the process was from here, which I imagine that it will be discussed and if possible got to a vote. Hopin for the best. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything

I wonder what the "other" proposals are :)
