General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Any news from the new maicos?
« on: February 16, 2011, 02:07:39 PM »
I always seem to cause additional trouble when I say anything about the Maico's... but I just had to put my two cents in....

There is something going on... once they get it straightened out, everyone will get to see the new bikes.

Sorry to be so cryptic..

Are you asking about racers or spectators?

You can mark me down as attending as a spectator!  8) 8)

Don't know if you guys read Racerhead, but in looking for some info about the race in Pheonix I found this quote from DC.

Quote

Not hard to see that he is no longer a two-stroke advocate at the Pro level....

Jim, you just asked the right question!!

The truth is that from my perspective at the Pro Nationals, there were so many people that were 100% behind the idea of a two-stroke qualifying for the Nationals. This came from AMA folks, industry people and the folks at the magazines.

While they would say it to us, they have to walk a fine line. The major manufacturers provide a huge share of the cash to the promotion of the Outdoor National events. No one wants to go against their wishes and stand up for something that could very well put them all out of work if it should backfire.

I'm not sure how many of you in the same position could or would be able to walk away from a salary just because of your beliefs?? When you see it in this light, you understand where these folks are coming from.

Just remember, there was not one person that walked up to us and told us the two-stroke was dead. Virtually everyone that spoke to any one of us, wanted to see us succeed.

With Cedirc as the racer and support from DV12 and Moto Concepts... we have all the right ingredients. It will be a very interesting few races!!

Bearorso has a great point! This is what truly needs to be done.

Charles my suggestion is to contact them and ask if you could pot blogs direct from the team to get the word out to two-stroke fans. They may not go for it, but you have direct access to a large contingent of fans. The mainstream media will only make brief mentions about their effort. But TSM could give detailed information which would be terrific advertising for all the teams sponsors.

Te fact that DV is involved, has tons of factory race team and experience with Yamaha is very comforting. Please don't second guess their choices on what they put into the bike.

While Project Two 50 did not live up to it's potential, we were pulled apart by everyone thinking that they had the best idea for getting the bike more notoriety in the press. This is the reason for the "see-saw" action of the engine mods and more.

Obviously the problems were more numerous than I care to mention, but lets just say that the fact that Project Two 50 showed up at the races and got some press was a win for the two-stroke. While we did not accomplish our goals, we did get lots of people thinking that the two-stroke was worth looking at.

As for the parts and stuff on the bike, most of the sponsors offered us 50% discount on parts and accessories. So we still had to buy most everything for the machine. Mike's dad put up the money for the suspension, which Mike has to pay him back for. Some of our good sponsors, donated cash, which helped us to get further than we could have ever imagined.

To mount this kind of effort requires so much more than you can imagine, unless you've been in the situation. The most IMPORTANT aspect is to surround yourself with the best people possible. Then next is to make sure that you are all working towards the same goal... you guys know the rest.

I for one will be watching Cedric's progress very closely!

Whoo Hooo

Whoo Hooo! Kick some four banger booty!!

As for what Guy B or DC said... it doesn't matter... as long as Cedric tries hard, he will have a huge contingent of fans whether he qualifies or not. The truth is he can qualify on the US tracks... the issue that will remain is will he be hired by a four-stroke team before he's able to race the smoker??

With DV in his corner, he will have the support he needs to do it...

2 Smoker... thanks for the information!!

The 5 books in this trilogy are absolutely fabulous! I love the ones read by the author, Douglas Adams... his sardonic style and pronunciation of the wacky names must be heard to be believed.

This is what I was listening to earlier...

Hmmm. Didn't realize it was that harsh. What do you guys recommend for a scrub-free wash?

While it's sort of self-serving, I highly recommend Pro Clean cleaning products. Pro Clean has been engineered specifically for cleaning dirt bikes.

Please read the testimonials from satisfied customers.

Check out some of the videos of the products in action....

Try it you'll like it!

Should Pro Clean not live up to it's claims, feel free to return it for a full refund.

You are right, Purple Power is tremendously powerful. Unfortunately that is also it's downfall.

Repeated washings remove the shine from plastics. Anodizing starts to dull. The more you wash with it the more beat up and used your machine becomes.

Just my 2 cents...

I would love to use OEM but all the Yamaha shops around here have been ran into the ground and there fore I no longer have a sponsorship on OEM parts and all be damned if i am gonna pay retail! Thats the only reason I was asking about Hot Rods. We have always used oem internals but don't have that option anymore at this point.

I don't know why you're ready to change the crank... did you have a problem with it? If not, why not just rebuild the stock one with an OEM rod kit?

Thank you sincerely for all the kind words and wishes.

This site is going to only get better and better in the future. That is because of all of you dedicated two-stroke fans.

Like I said I'll be dropping by once in a while to add my two cents to things!  8) 8)
