Then you must find something to do with your hands... smoking is an ingrained physical habit. Find something that works for you.

Good luck!

Sorry John,but that's poor advice when you're talking to a man who's wife's life's ambition appears to be celibacy. :-X :D

Sorry to hear that Ford... maybe you need a fun hobby that uses your hands with another part of your anatomy?? :o :o

where you guys located in the northeast? In the pittsburgh area we have alot of 250s for sale and for the most part there between 1200-1700 unfortunately im not quite ready for a 250 lol

Pittsburgh is 8 or 9 hours driving time from where I live in New York. I live near Poughkeepsie.

Yes those are great prices, but my buddy would have to buy 7 or 8 bikes to make it worth driving that far!

We are close to NYC and there are lots of racers living in the suburbs that want to race. Not everyone wants to spend big bucks just to have some weekend fun, so the used two-strokes have climbed in price over the past year.

Hey guys... as they say in advertising even bad publicity is helpful to changing peoples minds.

If it was done to make fun of the two-stroke brigade, it will backfire on them. It's just common sense, a cheaper, easier to maintain machine with the fun factor off the scale... there's no comparison.

It's only a matter of time....

Besides take a look at this video from 2008... a bit better rider just having some fun!

WOW! Unfortunately his biggest problem is he will never get that much money for that bike.

Have you guys noticed that the used prices of two-strokes has climbed higher than four-strokes? Another thing is when you do call on a used two-stroke they are already sold. At least in the Northeast!

I truly feel for you folks dealing with attempting to quit any type of harmful addictions. I lost my dad to lung cancer. It is the most painful way to die.. not that this information would be enough for anyone to quit.

A few things that I've observed. If you have friends that smoke and your trying to quit, either don't see those friends for a while or get new friends. I know this sounds harsh, but when your with a bunch of people that do something you want to quit it's much more difficult to do.

Another thing is smoking causes you to take very deep breaths, filling your lungs with smoke and expanding your chest. Most people in everyday life do not breathe very deeply. When you feel the need to smoke a cigarette, go outside and do deep breathing for the length of time it would take to smoke. You'll find out that you will probably get high from deep breathing the fresh air. Now there's a habit you can really sink your teeth into.

Personally I only smoked one cigarette in my life. Didn't like them at all. The first one was at 12 years old, my dad said that if I was going to smoke that I had to smoke in front of him. I was the oldest of 4 and my mom, brother and sisters were there. After the first puff I wanted to quit, dad told me that I started it that I had to finish it. I turned a brilliant shade of green. I never smoked again... neither did my brother or sisters. Obviously not starting in the first place is the better option.

I know that quitting is a tough road. Remember that it is a two pronged addiction - mental and physical. You must deal with both of these or you will not be able to quit. Using affirmations and positive thinking will help with the mental part. You must find a reward system that works for you. Negative methods do not work.

Then you must find something to do with your hands... smoking is an ingrained physical habit. Find something that works for you.

Good luck!

The point that Marty Smith was making is similar to what Bob Hannah has been saying... so many well-off posers have turned the sport into a fashion show.

The ONLY thing that counts is heart. Look at some of the best racers in recent history, like RC and James Stewart, these guys came from working class families. With the rules set to four-stroke friendly, meaning really expensive, families like the Carmichael's and Stewart's will be pushed out of racing long before they can reach their potential. This will be the largest destructive effect of the four-stroke rule.

The true determining factor must be about the person who straps on the helmet, not how much money they can put into racing...

End of rant...

Some more feedback occuring on the 2 vs. 4 Stroke articles in Yahoo! Groups.

Hope you guy did actually believe everything you read, most of it was a load of crap. And yes I do work in the industry. If you think dealer are getting rich selling parts or that anyone is rebuilding their dirt bike every 10 hours you are way off base. I have an hour meter on my 05 RMZ and it has over 200 hours with a single rebuild. Check the maintainace schedule of any dirt bike ever and you will that NO ONE every follows it. Also we more races and racers in Dist 23 than ever. Most of this article was simply option with no facts. Interesting reading but so are allot of fiction stories.

Part of this comment could be true... the part where he says he has over 200 hours on his four-stroke. I know of XR style four-strokes with way more hours than that on the bike without a rebuild. How would it be possible? By not revving the bike to the redline and/or not racing it...

Put around on one of the four-strokes and they can last for a good long time.

But be forewarned, when they are raced hard in competition, the 10 hour rebuild schedule will be way closer than the 200 hour one!!

I think these e-mails are funny, because the guy doesn't say what part of the industry he's in. Certainly if he works for a manufacturer, he is preaching the company line.

Just a little side-story... when we showed up at the Pro Nationals, with a two-stroke, there were way more people in the "industry" that wanted us to succeed than you can imagine.

Just my two-cents...

Hey guys... I didn't get back to see the comments on here until after I wrote the article. After reading the comments... I agree with you and will be changing the offer to the number two as suggested. Unfortunately I am unable to make the change until Tuesday...

Although now I'm gonna ask another silly question... would you prefer to get 3 bottles of cleaner for the price of two, or as the original number 2 offer of 2 bottles of cleaner and 1 bottle of Protection??

Thank you!

Hey Guys (and Girls... of course!)

I'm currently working on a special offer for the line of cleaning products that I distribute. The favor is that I've come up with two different ideas for a special and would love to get your opinion on which one you would be most likely to order.

Really simple actually... just pick number 1 or number 2

1- We're offering an exciting limited time offer. Purchase 2 Bottles of Pro Clean Cleaner and a bottle of Pro Clean ProTection (water displacement agent and corrosion inhibitor) for $36.97 and get FREE shipping in the continental USA. That's right, we'll pay the shipping!

2- We're offering an exciting limited time offer. Purchase 1 Bottle of Pro Clean Cleaner along with a bottle of Pro Clean ProTection (water displacement agent and corrosion inhibitor) for $24.98 and get an additional 1 liter bottle of Pro Clean FREE!! That's more than a 47% discount! (Shipping is additional.)

Thanks!

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Any news from the new maicos?
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:38:46 AM »
It might be slight legal trouble due to the lack of ownership on the name Maico.

This is not the problem...

I've been hanging back as I don't want to be stuck in the middle of anything... which is the reason I have not posted anything earlier.

Although Ford there is a ring of truth in what you say!  :P :P
