Technical / PK 26 to PWK 28
« on: November 15, 2010, 10:48:50 PM »
hey i was gonna buy a new carb for my girlfriends 97 KX100, she has the old style PK 26 carby on it and i was planning on changing it to a PWK 28, would it be as simple as just changing the jets across to the new PWK carb, is the needle interchangable from old to new, and is it even worth it, her bike has bugger all bottom end power will this help or should i just put a flywheel weight on it??

Basic question has anyone tried them, they look like a gimmick to me, although my mate claims he has one and it stops arm pump???  ::)
also noticed on there website it has pictures of athlete's but there not even wearing them, and the vid of proof that they work is rubbish.

Technical / anyone run a pwk 41mm carb ?
« on: July 23, 2010, 07:00:33 PM »
hey do any of you guys run a pwk 41mm carb on your 250, my bike is ported/reeds & pipe's, was thinkin of upgrading the carb later on down the track, would it be worth it, it seems funny that 2t 250's have the same size carb's as a 125 and 450's have 40mm + size carbs, could our tiny carb's be lettng us down?

Technical / The hunt for more power :)
« on: May 09, 2010, 07:19:24 PM »
as far as mods go, what else is there to do ? my bike has been ported has better reed valves, has a gnarly pipe, still has a stock cut down silencer ( do aftermarket ones make much difference)

what else is there to do in the world of 2 strokes for more power besides bigger capacity ???

Technical / not much power to coil
« on: April 16, 2010, 02:53:26 PM »
hey i have recently had no spark on my bike, checked power to coil and its getting power when its gettiing kicked over, so i bought a new coil and still no go, checked the windings on the pulse generator thing, and its ok, the thing it is that the power is very low to the coil or even from the magneto, could it possibly be the magneto or cdi box i would have thought if these went there would be no power generated whatsoever ?

General Two Stroke Talk / KTM 300 Power
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:36:26 PM »
Hey i was just wondering if it's even possible to take down a 300 with a 250 motocrosser, what would need to be done to a 250 to keep up with a fairly worked 300, say pipe's and reed valves on it, would u be wasting your time trying to beat a 300 in a beach drag race ???

« on: April 06, 2010, 02:05:32 AM »
Hey has anyone heard of using a mix of Auto tranny oil with or as gearbox oil for bikes, a fella i know who used to ride kx250's used to run 100% red dextron 3 oil, i know in a lot of manual cars dex 3 is the bomb for smooth quick shifting. anyone on here run ATF or an aft mix of say 50/50 ??

Technical / carb jetting
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:11:43 PM »
hey lads i have an 02 RM250, its basically in stock form besides an fmf gnarly pipe and a cut down silencer, it's in the process of getting a new ring in it at the moment as the compression was down to 160, the top end is in now getting a bit of a touch up port wise.

here is the plug after doing a fair bit of beach riding (trying to keep up with 450's :) )

the jetting is bascially stock : #168 main, air screw out 1.5 turns, and needle clip in 4th position with a #52 slow jet, should i just drop the needle position say to the 3rd position, drop the main jet to a #165 or back the air screw out 1/2 a turn ??? i run full synthetic motorex oil at 40:1 and 98ron pulp.

by the way the 4 stokes were beating me and there heavier riders.

Technical / de carbonising expansion chamber
« on: March 13, 2010, 02:25:04 PM »
looking in my expansion chamber the other day its full f carbon,  the previous owner had been runnig a rich oil mixture as well as the bike being very rich in the air/fuel ratio, whats the easiest way of getting the built up carbon out without cutting the pipe apart, its an fmf gnarly pipe in good nic besides the fact its full of carbon, is there any product that basically just eats carbon away ?
