Looking for a 250 need help
« on: January 12, 2013, 02:41:08 PM »
I've been searching Craigslist like a hawk for a month I sold my 450 and want a yz or rm 250 and everything I find is either trashed beyond worth or there price is ridiculous and they won't budge.

So thought if try here see if anyone knows of or has any they are selling at a fair price and within about 6 hours of northern indiana or will meet, I'm desperate.  :D

This has been my experience in Cali as well, anything with a reasonable price is just a rat bike and any nice bike is getting full pop. Lately I've seen some of the high end prices drop after a bike sits on the market for a while, probably because of the crummy economy. Good luck

I've got a 2001 YZ250 for sale that I'd be happy to show you,

In Australia.

Don't worry though, you'll find something eventually. If I were you, I would offer what you think a bike is worth, then just leave them to think it over. If they can't sell it for their asking price, they will come back to you.

06-07 KXs were horrendously bad handling bikes....... According to MXA. You can read their test ride of them on their website.

The thing about what may be called a bad handling bike is only an opinion. what is considered bad for most might fall right into certain riders methods and skills and be best for them, but not you. To me a magic handling bike is Neutral, which by todays standards is a little sub-par. I hate Honda head shakers but Honda riders love how they handle. Just saying.

In my experience, the honda riders who love their bike in every sense possible, are simply to prideful and stupid to acknowledge that their, in my case 12 grand bike, has huge flaws. I agree about your handling tastes though. I love my YZ250 because thats exactly what it is: Neutral. You can lean it over until the dirt scrapes your thigh, chug it around an off camber, plow through rough ground or float over it, it does everything right with not a hint of under or oversteer. Good old steelies :D

KX's handle ok. Handle better with a PC linkage and have good power. I have an 08 in the shed.

RM's are still the better jap bike handling wise.

Bad handling Honda's? You all must be talking about the latest generation of foofers, my 06 CR250 goes where I point it, when I point it and other than being a stiff ride is the most predictable handling MX bike I have ever ridden.

Well I know I definitely was talking about the foopers. I mean my 01 CR125 isn't really amazing, but its still good. Its sharp, quick and agile.

Hey ya have you got your heart set on a yz or rm ive had one of each  a 07 rm250 used it for everything xc,moto ,trailriding and evan did a isde on it great bike .Then bought a 09 yz  again great bike what im slowly getting to is that now they are slowly becoming dated designs still functional but unfortunately not being updated any more.My feeling contraversial that it might be is go euro, ktm,tm,gasgas, husaberg are still pumping big dollars into 2stroke development and now days getting spares for them are not an issue and there becoming mainstream for example i live down under in nz ,i own a tm 250 ,i can get parts from the uk within one week if i cant get them in nz or oz so in the states evan a lot simpler  but a thought anyway hope it helped :

oh yeah two strokes will rule the world
