My local dealer has all three YZ two strokes on the floor as well.
Last weekend the sales manager invited me to ride with the crew in the local desert, 7 bikes showed up, 5 were 2 strokes. We did about 90 miles of mixed single track, sand washes and fire roads. After we were sitting around having a beer and one of the four stroke guys was talking about getting a 125.

« on: December 01, 2012, 12:47:21 AM »That,s awesome news. Is there any TSM members in the Glen Helen area ? That could help TSM members on stuf like where to get race fuel, a practice track, borrow tools at the track,etc. What do ya think would be the easiest way to make it work for out of state folks. Purchase a bike in Cali., have mods done, then after the race ship the the bike home ? Shipping a bike has to be 500 bucks now, one way would be nice to keep that cost down.I live near Glen hellen, but I don't race motocross. I would be willing to loan a bike to a competitve rider. I have an 02 service honda 500af, this bike got the hole shot at the LA sleeve/glen helen race a couple of years ago.
I also have a 2002 YZ250 that runs well. I am building a 04 crf250 with a 2001 cr250 engine, but doubt it will be done in time.
If you want to borrow a bike, send me a resume. If we work something out I will prep a bike for you, spring it for your weight and pick you up at the airport.

Some goon was riding a zero electric bike on the local mountian bike trails, I was really tempted to go home and get my CR500 and clean him out... I didn't want to risk another ticket.

« on: November 23, 2012, 02:43:58 PM »What would be wrong with going back to the original rules, 125, 250 and open class? The only displacement advantage would be in the open class and they're so powerful it doesn't matter, and the 125 class would be all 2 strokeno argument here
Anything else would be lame...

Hey Dogger, I have a couple of questions for you.
Is this the build that is posted on the cr500riders site?
if so are you still doing a CR250 conversion in the near future?
I am considering puting a 2001 CR250 engine into a 2004 CRF250R frame, I was looking for some advise with the project.

General Two Stroke Talk / YZ 250 tank
« on: October 11, 2012, 02:10:01 AM »I don't like the clark, I have the IMS. I can change the spark plug with the tank on, I can get to the main and pilot jets, I cant get to the top of the carb to get at the needle though. the IMS tank fits well and the hadrware is much better than the clark.

Open Forum / Question for the California guys

I live in South LA county. Lots of good riding areas within 1-1.5 hour drive. I have been here for over 40 years. You are better off finding a home close to good schools 1st, work 2nd, and riding areas third. I live in Rowland Heights (blue ribbon schools).
Lots of good tracks in SoCal to, but I don't know much about that, I'm a hare and hound/desert rider.
