This is so ghetto, and I am almost embarrassed to ask it, but is there a plastic paint that looks good enough to use?  I.E. black?

a couple of my friends had some plastic painted by a very reputable auto body painter in our area, and it looked good for a little bit, but sooner or later it will start to peel off and look crappy, you'd be better off just buying plastic, look on ebay, there is usually some pretty good cheap used plastic on there

Trust me on this one, send your cylinder to Milenium technologies there the best. I had us chrome screw a cylinder up twice in a row, lost a whole riding season because of there shauty work. The 04 KTM 125 is a fast bike, Doma makes there pipes, shneider orange is an ugly color for a bike, black looks stupid, get white plastic.

Yeah like 595 said painted plastic don,t last. A grey primer  old hotrod look would be cool, I never saw a grey primer bike before. Reflective yellow paint would be unique also ;D.

Cylinder is already on its way to US Chrome, and I am going to rip those Jager graphics all day long.

I have an FMF pipe and silencer already for it, I am going to shorten the FMF silncer by about 2 inches when I repack it, and probably replace the gold series pipe with a DEP or DOMa factory/raw finish pipe.

I am focusing on the engine rebuild right now, I want it to be bullet proof and 125ccs because I am going to rev it until my balls fall off.

I'm just buying all new black plastic. fuck it.  this is, after all, a semi-works bike. hahahaha

I'm just going to buy all new plastics.

I am still contemplating the wheel rebuild.  to put new spokes in, that is about 70 per wheel.  powdercoat is 100 bucks for both wheels.  so, we are at 240.  add in new bearings.

A new set of black wheels can be had for 495 dollars shipped on ebay, which includes new bearings and hard anodized wheel spacers.  I think I am just going to go that route, and have a spare set of wheels.

Just ordered a brand new Wiseco bottom end kit to include a whole new crank, bearings and seals.  Splitting the cases when I get home from teh gym.  Also ordered a full hardware kit for the bike.

Does anyone know where I can get zinc plating done?  I'd like to just send off all my hardware, the brake rotors and some other things to get zinc'd.  Don't know where though.

I'm pretty sure U.S. Chrome does all kinds of plating. Zinc, chrome, nickel, etc.

I would have recommended anything OEM over Weisco cranks.  A lot of guys with CRs have horror stories of getting 10 to 20 hours in on Weisco eBay rebuild kits before they explode again.

The fact of the matter is, I could find an example of ANY product in ANY industry failing.  Whether it be a Dodge transmission, a Pepsi can, a Firestone tire, a Maytag washing machine, or a Wiseco crank.

I could find an OEM crank shitting the bed for each of the big 5 manufacturers.  I could find a Hotrods destroying itself too.

There's no point.  If it breaks, it breaks.  It's a dirtbike. That's what they do.

Just got off the phone with Eric Gorr.

US Chrome was going to just replate the cylinder for 230 bucks. bare cylinder only.

Eric is going to take the whole jug/head/powervalves, rebuild the PV, weld/bore/plate the cylinder, port it, re-set the squish, and put in a wiseco piston kit plus gasket kit for 410 bucks.

So, I am sending it to Eric.  Much better deal, and it'll end up running a lot better.  It's staying a true 125 though.  I told him I want to holeshot 450s with it, we laughed.  So it's going to get some port work.

Using deductive logic ( a lost art)..   Eric Gorr is in WI.  US Chrome is in WI.  Eric Gorr, i highly doubt, has plating capabilities in his little shop.  So it would be safe to say that Gorr probably has a jobber account with US Chrome.  So in reality there is no "Eric vs. US Chrome" because it is the same thing, so, for an extra 180 dollars you get a 150 dollar top end kit.  That leaves 30 dollars.  So, for that 30 dollars you get, power valves rebuilt, cylinder ported, and squish set, and you dont have to disassemble the head to mail it.  On top of that, when it comes back, it is ready to install/slide over the piston and on to the motor.

I say you can not beat that.

Gorr might use Milenium technologies, there in Plymouth Wi. close to Road America road racing track. One thing they do differently is they ask ya, what piston you use. Because they spec the cylinder to that piston, for tight clearances, there plating process and materials are totally different than us chrome. In 09 when I used us chrome, something was going on there like a new guy or a experimental process, the cylinder was even shaped right, it had thicker plating in diff areas. They must have fixed what was going on, other wize they would be out of buisness.
