General Two Stroke Talk / wca wheels
« on: June 23, 2013, 05:46:42 AM »
Hi TMKIWI

Thats brilliant
I love the bricks :P
Q if you have a ding or hump in your rims how do you remove those? Any ideas my Yamaha dealer could not remove my ones so they have this weird buckle effect. only slight though.

I will start looking on Utube concerning truing wheels and lacing spokes.

interesting comment on DnA wheels I thought they would be quite good ah well the search goes on.

how does one lace and get a wheel straight. is there a link how to do this?

your current bike sounds great. It all boils down to how heavy or light you want your wallet to be. unless something is wrong with the RM I say keep it a few more years maybe 3 more and by that time there should be even more new technology etc especially from the european makes.

General Two Stroke Talk / mxa two stroke issue
« on: June 09, 2013, 08:50:42 AM »
just reading other posts on MXA two strokes.

Interesting read about Husaberg been in its last year of production. What ashame to build up a great name and then bye bye at basically one of the best two stroke manufacturers. Husqvarna will go back to Sweden and good bye Husaberg. If I had spare cash one of those bikes crated in twenty years would be worth a fortune! Maybe? I suppose I would be in my seventies and so my son would appreciate that more than me, ah to be young again.

I am still unsure of FI or DI or whatever the initials for two strokes are holding. right now though carbies are fine and by the sounds of it heaps cheaper and easier to work out.If you have a second hand bike just rejet back to standard and then slowly work it out over a couple of hours and your good for the life of the bike well at least here in Oz thats basically how it is.  ;)

What is your fuel/oil ratio? I prefer more oil in my mix if I am hitting the dunes,  and not to sound to weird but were your piston rings correctly installed and locked in properly? just so unusual.

I really hope we can all work this one out for you.

My CR250 05 is modified to a 310 it is fantastic. I rode a 2013 yz 250 It was nice, do not get me wrong but those extra 60cc makes a world of difference lower mid and upper. My two stroke is just brilliant. I am hoping the 450 two strokes will make a come back as enduro models and I reckon dealers will not be able to keep up with demand. They will send 450 fourstrokes back into the dark ages. I for one would buy one in a heart beat. MMMM just imagine New technology new frame and just that awesome 450cc of two stroke sensation between your legs. Makes me want to go for a ride just writing this. 8)

General Two Stroke Talk / GPS
« on: April 29, 2013, 04:25:55 AM »
I did have my phone but it was not fully charged and died on me thats when I had to do a water crossing at night I had no choice. As soon as I stepped into the water I fell in up to my elbows deep and walked to other side where the police and son in law were trying to find me. I could see them but they could not see me. I had nothing no working phone no lighter or torch. A shit of an experience. I am not a lover of riding by myself any more, one of the locals died simply because he was knocked out in an accident on his bike and another guy had his leg cut off because he was also by himself and could not make it back. They found him the next day but unfortunately it was good bye leg. He is a bloody good rider even with one leg

Could you guys lead me in the right direction of purchasing a descent offroad GPS which attaches to your bike handle bars and is robust etc etc.
I went riding on Thursday with my son in law he has a KTM 200 he seized his engine and it was late at night going back. Any way to cut a long story short he went back to my truck on my bike lost his way could not work out where I was. We had to involve the police they organised a search party for me eventually found me at 9pm at night. If only we had a GPS we could have hidden his bike and next day picked it up. The whole experience was an eye opener . The adrenilin was everywhere in me, we had a great day riding just a shit his bike broke down. >:-D

I will do that for my bikes from now on make up a template and presto good to go. Q is it better to do this with a new chain and sprokets or is wear and stretch negligable because slack is slack whether it is new or old.

Hi WTFactoryX. I have been looking up google to find a smart carb no results. It is only on my iphone but can you please share more info as to who makes them and so on. I found your comments very helpful and interesting. This site has such a good and professional style of info in it. I like technology so do not get me wrong but I prefer the KISS principle especially for off road enduro bikes. This smart carb you mention just may look into getting one for my Yz 250 01 model if it is possible to convert to a smart carb.

I could be wrong on this but if you break down in bum crack nowhere with a two stroke carby, you can probably fix it. If you break down with fuel injection. what the hell do you do? How much does it cost for a spare injector ? I heard up to a few hundred dollars each! Imagine carying that in your toolbag while riding, you would not want to lose that tool bag, maybe better hope it is not a dud either. I have had dud spark plugs but i always have 2 or 3 with me so a few dollars no biggie. Very different story carrying a few injectors, my wife and wallet will not be happy about that. I do see bikes going down this sophisticated road just not sure if it is user friendly. My yamaha is 12 yrs old and CR is 8 yrs old and both going great and I trust them on trail rides. I think I would stress out too much with an injected bike, freind has a four stroke one and it is weird when things go wrong because you can not work it out, forever guessing what could be the problem. Really annoying always riding close to where cars are parked in case his bike breaks down so he does not have too far to push it. He is trying to sell his CRF 450.

Any way just my .02 cents worth.  :o
