« on: June 28, 2010, 03:39:39 PM »
I blew something in my front suspension. I can lean on the handlebars and bottom the suspension out. i know that i blew the fork seals. Ive replaced fork seals before. no prob. my question is, is this normal for blowing the fork seals? or more like i blew something else? thanks

You have steel springs in your forks that should support the front end regardless of the condition of the fork seals. I once restored a 1983 Maico MC250 that had been beat so hard that the previous owner had managed to break both front fork springs.Sounds like you need to carefully overhaul your front forks.

You've got a nice bike, why not find a competent suspension guy in your area to help you dial in your forks and rear shock? It's usually not too expensive and sometimes the suspension tech will just swap you springs. If your front forks need attention you should service your rear shock and linkage as well.It can make a world of difference in the way a bike handles.

Race tech has a calculator that you can use to get the proper spring rate. Just enter the year, make, and model of your bike along with your weight and type of riding you do.
