From Revance2Strokes " So I had an interesting issue brought to me by a person who asks to remain nameless for obvious reasons. This is what I learned, back in 2003 the ( less than intelligent ) AMA boys were under pressure to meet the requirements put to them by brand "X" to further their attempts to deceive the American public. The rule changes then were ( as everyone knows ) to force 2 strokes to compete with 4 strokes at or near twice the displacement. When this didn't work, the AMA enacted a weight penalty onto the 2 strokes ( again, nothing new ) and this was done by them but generated by brand Honda, After the 2 strokes continued to win, then they made a fuel change that hurt 2 strokes but, they still won. Now, this is where it gets interesting and yet- very low-down. Brand Honda and a couple other factories were told that they needed to stop penalizing the 2 strokes. Now, who told them and why, I have not yet figured this out, but I am working on it. At any rate, the rules were left alone and yet, the agenda was not working and not in place. So here's what happened, the top 8 to 10 riders were told they either had to change to the 4 stroke OR risk losing their contract or they could ride the 2 stroke but at a much, much, much lower contract price ( as much as 25% less. Is this low or what? How can anyone know this and defend the 4 strokes? Brand X is Honda by the way"
