Anybody from the northeast us?
« on: June 27, 2012, 03:55:57 AM »
Quick question for y'all. My bro has been known to over exaggerate things but has the occasional truth. Anyways he lived in pennslyvania for about a year and while there he bragged at how amazing the tracks are(which I don't doubt) but he says in order to race at one u have to have ur AMA card and district whatever card. Any truth to that? My aunt still lives there and I was thinking of taking a trip up there to visit and riding a track or two while I was there but can't see paying dues to rude a track once. I'm from the Memphis, tn metro area and none of our track require an AMA card or district card. Only a few are AMA sanctioned anymore(most didn't wanna deal with it) it's $20 to practice and $25 to race with a $10 gate fee per person on race day so track expenses for myself is usually $55-80. It anything like that mainly looking at anything in the harrisburg pa area(withing 2 hours of it at least)

Yep I live in Pa. To race you need an AMA card and District # card (District 5 here). There are a few pay to ride places that have tracks that aren't sanctioned but it's basically just open practice no racing.

At just about any MX track in New England (including Southwick), you can show up at race day without any membership, pay a day fee, pay for your class, and go racing.  There are quite a few organizations, NESC, NEMA, NEMX, Maine Motocross Series, etc.), but none of them require AMA membership.  If you just go with a day pass, you don't accumulate championship points though....  I'm not sure about Enduro's though, I do think you need an AMA membership to join NETRA, but I could be wrong.

What kind of money would I be looking at to coke out and ride 1-2 weekends in pa? Do they do a day pass in the pa area? Whats a district card cost? I could care less about championship points as I said it'll only be once or twice if I'm lucky. I guess in short what's it gonna cost me to ride one race up there provided I have nothing but a bike and a truck

One day memberships are available for $5 I think in District5, not sure if they are all the same or not. Here is district 5's web site:
