Great article! He really spells it out for everyone. I bet he stepped on some AMA/FIM toes with this article! Though I'm sure someone affiliated(on payroll of the big 4) will counter and try to discredit some of his facts about the contracts/deals of the AMA!

"Technology frightens me to death. It's designed by engineers to impress other engineers, and they always come with instruction booklets that are written by engineers for other engineers - which is why almost no technology ever works."

Jeff Emig even famously commented at the ?95 MXDN that there was no way he was going to let Smets beat him on a big trail bike.

I wish someone would throw THAT in his face every week whenever he starts spouting over "these powerful four stroke engines"!

The 73 Elsinore was an industry changer but was it the leader in handling and suspension? Not a chance, the Maico was far superior. The first thing Gary Jones did with his Honda was cut the top frame tube and run the thing into a fence to suck the rake in 2 degrees so it would turn.

I can concur with that statement...  On my 74 Elsinore, I used to sit on the tank to make it turn...  but because of its length, it was one hell of a hill climbing machine.
