For what you do and what you want that would be an excellent choice.

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

I have all sorts of combinations for my '98 YZ250, but it is quite a bit different than your '05 motor.  My favorites are an FMF Gnarly with a Pro-Circuit 296 spark arrestor for woods riding, and an FMF Fatty with a Pro-Circuit 304 for MX.  The silencers don't make much difference over stock, but the pipes really move the power quite a bit in the RPM range.  Stock pipe is quieter (just a little) than the FMF's due to thicker construction.

They will all probably make a small change in the noise. Definitely from the stock silencer. Some sound deep and low, others sound sharp and loud, and some sound muffled and quite. It all depends on what you buy.

the pc 304 factory sound long silencer is for mid to top and the pc 304 shorty is for bottom to mid it will give your exhaust more of a deeper throaty sound over your stock silencer you wont lose any bottom end it will help clean it up some over stock

I run the stock pipe with the pc 304 long silencer. Simply put, I love it.  It has a nice deep exhaust tone when you wind it out and is smaller and lighter than stock.  Also, you do not need to rejet for the new silencer.
