One word and one symbol: WHY?

The real answer is in the first post.  This is the "missus'" bike.  If his missus is anything like mine, then the asthetics are more important than the mechanicals.   ;D

hhaahha hes figured it out hahah :)

its already got a aftermarket pro-circuit pipe, and silencer.
but yes i could get vforce reeds or something.

but the plastics are trashed anyway, id imagine when aftermarket 2014 kx85 comes out, would be similar price to standard after market?

its like the last piece to the puzzle

3
yeh i have never seen one in person either.

rang my local kawi store, said he can get genuine guards but will be on back order atleast a month. going to wait for after market

4
i waited a couple months now from when i wanted to buy new plastics for the misses kx80.

i been scouring the net, but coming up with nothing? anyone no if you can purchase them yet? or is it something i have to get from a dealer ship?

also was wanting to discuss how i was going to do it.

its a 2000 kx80/85 been bored out.
i was comparing the frames and they are very similiar, from what i could see i would only need to drill one section of the frame on either side and tack weld a nut on the back or pot rivet a thread in!

then going on from there, front fender may be a issue rubbing on the expansion pipe or frame, and not sure if the rear fender will fit? but all things to look forward to i guess hahahah  :D

it was a 1992 rm250 i believe.
little back story on the bike, surprisingly i just found out more of its history about 2 weeks ago.
my brother purchased the bike when he was 16 then owned and enjoyed it for 10 years and didnt really care for riding much anymore so then i bought it in 2010 when i was 16 and owned it for a year or 2 then sold it unfortunately.
but the bike never skipped a beat, never had to change a piston on it or anything it just ran and ran with out a problem.              then i recently found out that my brother purchased the bike off one of my mechanics sons back in the day.

Having a problem with the kx85s powerband.
It kinda comes on late, and only really felt it in 1st and 2nd.
I'm thinking a pv problem or maybe the carb needs adjusting.
I'm gonna get another plug and see if that helps.

it was pretty tight my mechanic told me to put the piston in from the top and watch it slid down slowly and if it drops its to small and it slid down slowly, but felt the same as when i did my 250s piston, and as for the ring its only running one ring instead of two like the 2014 kx85.

Update.

so ive been a busy boy.

got the piston and gaskets today, everything fit perfect as the shop said it would, so now the top end is together and the motor is bolted into the frame, connected all the hoses to radiator, re-attached clutch cable, and just a bunch of little things.

all thats left to do is
.bleed the rear brakes
.put new stator on (picking up tomorrow)
.get radiator fluid, and new plug.

then start it :D
will takes pics tomorrow, took some today but will upload tomorrow.

i think i may have mis-understood him as both shops recommended the same size, so id say i mis-understood. i have already ordered it, and should have it tomorrow.
should be ok he has advised me with my bike and serviced it before and always done a good job.

i may have mis-understood him, ill query it when i talk to him next.

so to clarify the bore size should be 48.9? or?

got it measured again and another shop said to run a 48.5 piston.

yeh they both measured it and its larger than 48.5, id say it would be around 49 or slightly over cant exactly remember what he said but i made sure that it was over 48.5 anf there was enough room for ring gap.

that should be coming either tomorrow or the following day, so all i need now is the stator.
