Is it turbocharged, or have a ridiculously dramatic "VTEC" kind of thing?  If it's not, I don't really see it happening.  I can imagine they could make it like a 125 if they really went to town on making the powerband crazy, and that would of course give it a bit more power than a 125 (a 250F already peaks close to a 125, so if you remove all the low-end you'd expect to have a higher peak) but if they're claiming it will match a 250 two-stroke then I'm very skeptical indeed.  As you've said, there's only one way to find out.

Okay, so now I'm interested.  My dad's 360 is registered and stuff but it involved a loophole that we don't really understand and that was since closed.  So if there's a mystical way to make, say, a 430CR Husky street legal, I'd love to know about it, because I think that would be just about the perfect on/off-road machine once you gear it to the moon.

Of course, there are other engines that aren't two-strokes or four-strokes, which are pretty awesome.

There's the classic one-stroke steam engine, which is just pure elegance

Then there's the jet-turbine, which is the engine of choice for anyone who desperately wants to do something ridiculous.

And then there's the six-stroke, which as you would imagine is just fucking stupid.

I agree, I like rotaries for a lot of the same reasons I like two-strokes.  Low number of moving parts, high power per unit displacement, etc.  I don't know if I'd want one for cruising everyday, though.  As much as we all like bashing the four-strokes, if you're looking for something that will trundle along at eighth-throttle for three hours a day, every single day, it's hard to get more reliable than a giant four-stroke with no real power to speak of.  It's when someone takes that design and tries to make it into a performance machine, that you start having problems.

Closest thing my dad has in his epic fleet (besides the blatantly illegal 360 Husqvarna with a couple of lights and a license plate) is the old Kawasaki 350 Big Horn.  Not the best bike for the trails, perhaps, because it weighs about as much as a Buick, but it's a great bike for the streets as long as you don't intend to bomb down the freeway, and on dirt or gravel roads the weight forces the suspension to absorb every slightest hint of a bump.  Plus, the thing looks absolutely amazing.

I'm disappointed.  I expected to see someone with a YZ250 mounted to their chest.

I think if you showed this to Honda today, they'd say, "Well this is exactly why we don't sell bikes like that today.  If Steve McQueen tried filming that in 2011 he'd be arrested by the BLM in about fifteen minutes!"

Well, right around 1983 Maico got bored of making the fastest bike in the world, and now they're waiting for something faster to come around so there's a bit of a challenge, at least.  So far... well... let's just say 450F ain't cutting it. :D

Well of course he could've run away from me at any time, he was on a 430 geared to do three-digit speeds.  I'm not going to be an idiot and say that a 250 is going to be faster than a 430 of the same year and make.  At the same time, though, I'm not going to deny that I had to wait for him a bit at the end of each corner.  On that first section, between the cattle guard and the pond, I think I could challenge him in a time trial simply because I don't think he has as much confidence through the turns.  But on the bigger, more open straights there's absolutely nothing I could do to keep up with that thing if he was really set on winning.

I went straight from the 120 to my 250 Husky when I was 14.  That's a 4x increase in power, a 2x increase in height, a 3x increase in suspension travel, and a 2x increase in top speed, all at once.  As you might imagine, it was some number of years before I ever dared exploring the bike's actual capabilities.

Here's the first video.  Sorry it took longer than I thought, but I ran into some problems with the internet.

Wow, that sounds like crazy weather.  I think I'll stick to Oregon's brand of crazy weather, which consists of driving rain then glorious sunshine, alternating back and forth every half hour for about two months.

If they're THAT worried about safety, they ought not to be at a motocross track.  It's that simple.  Take up crochet instead.
