General Two Stroke Talk / mxa 2t vs 4t
« on: March 07, 2013, 02:29:14 AM »
the 250 2t ,300 sx 2t vs the 350 4t are closer in hp to each other.  I think that would be good to compare.

General Two Stroke Talk / mxa 2t vs 4t
« on: March 06, 2013, 02:56:50 AM »
got the new mxa mag today.  they have a 125 2t vs  250 4t  vs 250 2t (all ktms) test.

I appreciate mxa writing 2t articles but I think it would have been better with a 150sx and a 300sx and the 350 4t or include them in the mix and include lap times , HP and torque charts  etc like they do in other tests for those 3.   I know they have tested the 150 2t vs 250 4t  which is good.  need to see a 250 2t or 300 sx 2t vs the 350 4t.  they don't seem to include the 450 4t anymore

look at lap times this season for top riders in 250 4t and 450 4t classes.  they are virtually the same.  really doesn't matter bike size anymore...you can only go so fast around these technical tracks.  to fast you overjump or blow thru corners.     if a 250 2t is between a 250 4t and 450 4t they would get same lap times also.   just put a good rider on anything and they will still come up on top.   I like the idea of an entry level class (125 2t) and an open class (run what you brung).

General Two Stroke Talk / Dungey on a 125
« on: June 29, 2012, 08:13:53 PM »
With most of the competition out in the 450's dungey will wrap up championship before the last race so KTM should let him ride a 250 2t in the last one or two events.  KTM sells these bikes and i think dungy would still win or get a top place(with normal national setup, suspension mods).  You would think KTM marketing dept would have a field day with this and they are suppose to sell as many bikes (whatever the type).  I dont see why they wouldnt want to.  Even if dungey didnt win he would still show its competitve and if he did win it certainly wouldnt hurt sales.  KTM is a business and i think it would be smart move.  Just promoting the race what they sell.

Didnt Bob Hannah ride a virtually stock YZ for some races back in the day to show how good the bike was?

Are you talking a 300 sx kit on a 250 sx?  that would be good for moto.

If you are talking about the 300 xc or xc-w that is different.  my 300 xc-w motor is great at the track but not the suspension.  the suspension is good for offroad but you need to revalve for mx only.

i dont like my 250 sx suspension offroad but love it at the track and i love my 300 suspension on tight rocky desert trails but hate it at the track.

MXA just tesed the 300xc for moto and said same thing.  need to revise suspension for moto.

I have two riding buddys with 450 4t that parked their 450's and just bought used cr250's 2t because they dont were them out as much.  they take the 2t to desert and track.

General Two Stroke Talk / cr500 ?
« on: April 01, 2012, 02:23:24 AM »
i rode a 1990 kx500 and 1994 kx500 up to 2007.  the gyro affect was hard on a track.  bike kept wanting to go striaght.  it wass great for desert and dunes.  love the power.  as long as you use throttle control you will have a blast.  dont rev it.  lug it.  nothing like ripping down a sand wash and pulling a long wheely.  sand dunes are awsome.   i race some local grand prixs and see a few out there.  500's ruled the desert for many years (and still would imo).  you can lug them in technical and blast them wide open.  very stable.

Here is a cool thing one campnay does for kx's and cr500's.  there called "Fat tire 500's".  they use a modified swingarm and quad paddle.

General Two Stroke Talk / reduce vibration???
« on: March 21, 2012, 03:29:34 AM »
I remember old articles with team green and kx500's which used to vibrate.

they  balanced the crank, blue printed engine, carefully bolted/welded everything, used a bar snake with weighted bar ends.
