I might be wrong but I heard in moto3 (250 4 stroke singles) that everyone has to used a Honda engine and you only get 250 4 strokes now. KTM redbull rookies cup will be switching to 250 4 strokes next year which is sad. I wonder how long it will take for them fart cannons to blow up
I heard that too when I was watching on Telly, all Honda powered, but lots of different chassis' was good racing just sounded like poo

It's true! Everything in moto3 and moto2 is a Honda engine, just different chassis. That's so stupid that everyone has to use a Honda engine! That just takes the excitement of engineering away! In moto2 with 600cc v4 4 strokes got slower lap times than the gp 250 )250cc twin cylinder 2 stroke) which is so sad! The only reason moto2 is cheaper than gp 250 is because the engine is sealed and there is no carbon fiber, do the same with gp250 and it will be alot cheaper than moto2!

moto3 lap times are slower than gp125 lap times to. Honda wants to get rid 2 strokes. It's so sad that I actually have a 1985 CR500 and it is XR bullet proof reliable. I haven't rebuilt the engine in over a year and I still have more low end torque than the latest 2013 450f! I have not changed the piston in 8 months to and it's still running! The CR500 motor pretty much the 1982 Maico 490 motor because Honda pretty much copied that motor but I still love them! Did you know that the CR500af got 2 seconds faster lap times than a 450 in a test review?

no its not all honda, but i haven't heard anything from kawi, suzuki or yamaha about building a moto3 bike, all it is is honda and ktm

and yes a 250 single, i read somewhere that they can't get much more than 45 horsepower without really sacrificing longevity. Was watching a race a little while ago and the announcers were talking about just how loud these "new better" bikes are

Yamaha and ktm and others who go into moto2 and the new (boring) moto3 class have to use a Honda engine, the only thing they can can is just build the chassis, that's all. It's sad that the newer moto2 and moto3 bikes get slower lap times and yet the praise these slower engines! How pathetic

they have to use them!??!? wtf
i guess the only real explanation to these premade bikes is that its all rider, whoever wins its the best ride who does. but it has always been that way.

The Last WORCS pro light race was won on a 2502t as well.  I think people are catching on.  A 250f is not even close to the bike a 250 2t is, especially on a motocross/desert track.

They are definitely not running all honda motors in moto3. Thats moto-2

moto-3 is any brand motor in a prototype chassis.

if it was honda motors, KTM factory team would not be racing!

its interesting that they didnt blend the 2Ts and 4Ts together for the first year like they did in motor gp is 2002 (?).
they learnt their lesson about the old 2Ts spanking the 'new' 4 strokes when placed side by side.

They say that this season or next season the 4Ts will have eclipsed the 2Ts in lap times (125 vs moto 3) (thats a quoted for KTM team manager)
However he is not taking into acount that if the 125s had any development, let alone the funding thats been put into moto3 injected into the 125 motors that they'd be going significantly faster by now.
The 2011 factory RSA125 would have most likely long since become the privateer bike and there would be a new factory machine which surpases the old one.
Aprilia R&D had lots of ideas for making more hp, but they had their funding cut

They did originally try 'blending' the motors in the old 125 class and in the redbull rookies aswell I think but the 250f's were a LOT slower than the 125's, you have to remember how much different the motogp 125's are compared to a motocrosser though, the things made like 60 hp but in a very small range but in that kind of racing the kids could keep them in that range and seriously haul ass on them but the 250f has a spread of power with no real peak so while its faster for motocross in motogp they're useless.

I used to love watching the 125's scream around the tracks on the TV, iit was the best racing ever.
