General Two Stroke Talk / Woods and track tires?
« on: March 17, 2013, 01:16:51 AM »
If you are running both woods and MX I'd be more concerned about your suspension. With suspensions stiff enough not to bottom on basic MX stuff I ran at the GNCC at unadilla and every time you hit something, like roots or a bump or whatever, the front end would bounce and try and send you into a tree. This is a 0.48 spring. For the winter stuff I have a softer set of forks, with a 0.45 front spring and it works so much better than the stiffer stuff and it was using much of the fork travel. Those numbers will mean precisely squat for your application, but should give you an idea that if you want to run something stiff enough for MX it will probably be too stiff for a hare scramble, and something soft enough to get through some tight bumpy woods stuff will be too soft  for MX jumps and you will bottom on everything.

that will pull 120-140mph

140 maybe with modified gearing. and a tailwind. and a 120lb rider. Off a cliff.

Saw about 200km/h at eastern creek, my cousin saw about 206-208 on his before it ran out of gears.

no go with aftermarket carbs. Downdraft.

Yeah the rgvs were a little porky for a 250, but I think they came in under 3 cwt, so could be worse

the RS 125 road bike is it's last year of production and derestricted with a 34mm VHSB carb they get about 9litres/100km(when used properly) about what my Ford Falcon averages.

Round town I was getting around 9L/100 with my RGV, and funnily enough on a ride down wollombi rd cruising at 120-145km/h I think I got as good as 6.5 but that was the only time in the time I rode it that it was ever that good. RMX on public rds was easily a good 10 or more.

I do not get how a 1 litre V twin can get economy equal to a 4 litre 6 cylinder falcon. Roughly 4 litre anyway.

rgv is a 250cc v-twin.

Been doing this since the end of '10 - mud and snow series at square deal riders In Binghamton NY and Broome-Tioga.

It's cold and hurty. And the landings are not soft and powdery. Frozen and hard :p
