Racer X disappointment..... :-(
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:33:20 AM »
Just got the latest issue of Racer X (March 2010) and got near the end of the magazine where they have their 2 tribes section. This month it's between the 2-stroke and the 4-stroke...

It's actually kind of funny at times!

The disappointment is when they "ask" what is their favorite web site is the 2-stroke answers  twostrokesonly.com while the 4-stroke answers Thumpertalk.com (of course!)

So figuring that I must have missed this great web site about two-strokes, I headed over to twostrokesonly.com and what do I find? A site called 4-strokes only!! Not only that but there is almost NO information about two strokes on that site.

Aren't there other options for the two-stroke fan? Or is it that they want to show the two-stroke as being done? Sure my feelings were hurt that they didn't mention this site... but aren't there other options that show the two-stroke in a positive manner?

My question is, besides this site, what other two-strokes sites do you visit that have news and information about these machines?
Life is short.

If there's a better one than this I sure as hell don't know of it!

Maybe that's the problem?

Well, there's...
But I also found...
Yeah, that was all on TSM.

Damn, this IS the only 2T site I know of!  There are some good 2T articles about, but no sites.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.

Hello All,

I like to ride on the road too, and there are some great sites catering to 2 stroke road bikes. RD's RZ's GT's KH's TZR's NSR's RGV's and all that kind of stuff.

Are you guys interested in that at all?

Thanks,

Jim

Maybe this site is actually turning the tide in some small way and they don't want to mention it?? I'm not sure, but as soon as I get my e-mail working correctly, I'm going to send one to DC asking what's up!!

I wouldn't mind, but that site (Two Strokes Only) has nothing to do with two-strokes.. it makes the two-stroke appear as a joke. As you can tell, I don't like that!

TS250/185 I'd be interested in taking a look. Would you mind posting a few links?? Thank you.

Hey Guys,

These are just some general 2 stroke oriented links. I realize that they aren't motocross specific, but they're great just the same if you would like to see some really cool 2 strokers of other types, and enjoy a point of view similar to that of this site.

Thanks,

I was surpised I was the first one in... http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=867273
A good 4 stroke is one that can be switched from 2 stroke to 4 stroke, has no valves and is 2 stroke technology gone wild! Bring on DI 2 strokes I say!

Speaking for myself, yes!

I tend to find that the best sites are specific to a particular bike so the sites I use the most reflect the bikes I have, but there is obviously now a common "2-stroke supporting" type theme through all of them and good general 2-stroke info by default. So here's a few of my "favourites".

NSR 250 http://www.nsr-world.com

RG 500 http://www.rg500delta.com  This site also contains links for just about every other useful RG site out there so it's the only one I bookmark.

Air-cooled RD's http://www.aircooled-rd.com Excellent forum, been going for years and some genuinely knowledgeable people on it.

KH's etc http://kawasakitriplesworldwide.com

TZ's http://www.tz250racing.com

Finally our own classic/twinshock club here in Northern Ireland http://www.niclassicscramblesclub.com Have a look at the gallery if you want to fry you mind with pictures of old motocrossers, thousands of images.

http://www.dirt-bike-tips-and-pics.com/future-of-two-strokes.html

Hi everyone, I'm a new guy (just registered today.) I am bringing this old topic back up to the front because I found this article on a website called Dirt-bike-tips-and-pics.com and its an interesting journal style article on 2stroke technology. Hopefully my first post on here isn't something that has already been posted, I checked a little but didn't see it! Enjoy  :D
