2011 yz 125 and 250
« on: January 04, 2011, 05:50:39 AM »
I don't really like motoUSA that much, but from time to time they actually make some decent videos... Such as this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13GyZZAuAo0&feature=sub

And there is an actual update made to the bike :O, and I'm not talking about different stickers, they have a new exhaust apparently, well at least it looks different.

"Its a stepping stone from the 85cc to the 250f."  >:(
The only updates they did, was a more restrictive silencer, and lower compression. And by doing this apparently, it increased the power, and it makes less noise.

$7,150 or $6,250 fun? Seems like your buying a detuned mx bike strictly for fun. I guess I should be grateful they dropped the price.

I would much rather pay that for fun, than pay that or more for a not-so-fun grenade. :)

True, LOL, I was tired this morning Charles. I guess I should have paid more attention to your comment.

Yeah, from listening to these guys you'd think Yamaha had a 100% monopoly on the two-stroke market, or that someone would have to be out of their mind to get something that's not Japanese.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

Yeah, this video doesn't entirely do justice because it presents the two stroke bike as a "stepping stone" rather then an alternative. At least Yamaha still makes two strokes, and I still want a YZ (not 2011 though), but i guess the new KTM models are better.

On the other hand... Yes, YZ 125 is a stepping stone. To the YZ 250 :D. I know it will be for me :)

What gets me is that these commentators act as though it is still the 90's and KTM is just some "fringe player" building enduro bikes and not worthy of any mention at all. I'd like to compare current KTM offroad sales in the U.S. to that of Kawasaki and Suzuki, never mind KTM two stroke sales. There is a saying that "Every great fighter has one last great fight in him" and with Roger Decoster joining KTM I think we are going to see a lot more orange on the finish podium. ;D
