General Two Stroke Talk / Re: New lotus omnivore is coming baby!

I heard something interesting about Honda. I was told that apparently they tried several of those two strokes that can work without a spark in the Dakar. Is that true? If so, than the engine must have been very well developed and probably close to being finished. What a loss :(.

Anyways, very interesting technology, amazing... and based on a two stroke as well... Perfect :D.

Wow this is very interesting. I've heard about this engine before and always wondered how they solved the lubrication problem.

I agree that it just wouldn't make sense in a motocross bike. In a motocross bike I want simplicity, that's why I like two stroke bikes. However for two strokes to have any future, they must be on the road, they must bring profits to the manufacturer. To be on the road and able to compete with four strokes, you need injection. I believe that systems such as this is the only way we are going to have two stroke motorcycles on the roads. No one makes cars with carburetors any more, whether we like it or not, injection is the only way. It doesn't have to be so in motocross however. Here we are not to worried about pollution and fuel economy and convenience and all that (pollution is bad, but I think even if we add up all the motocross bikes in the world they would only make a tiny portion of the bigger picture).

In my opinion this is the only possible future for two stroke road motorcycles, but not necessarily for motocross bikes.

 ;D

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: A knocking noise in my engine...

It could be the bearing that goes between the crankshaft and the connecting rod. It happened to me once on a 150 sx. First a knocking noise and later it broke. I couldn't move the kick starter at all, as if the piston was seized. The repair was not super expensive, but it was costly.

I think not. It will reduce the lifetime of your engine. I once had this problem because I was riding in sand a lot (very dusty). I can't tell if it's the same issue in this case, but it sounds similar. Do you clean your air filter, is it installed properly? Maybe somewhere between the filter and the carb there's a hole?

I guess there could be some other things that could cause this, but in my case it was simply dust.

It could mean that dust is getting inside the cylinder.

Hey everybody, this is my first post here, although i have been hanging around for some time now:)

This may sound stupid, but I my granddad said he would simply hang pipes over a fire and it would burn away everything from the inside. This is pretty old school, and he did it with straight pipes from old russian two stroke motorcycles, so it's hard to tell how it would work with a pipe that's not straight...And you would end up with a really dirty piece of metal that still would need to be cleaned :) . Just thought that this is something cool that I can share and finally make my first post here :)
