need some help....sell the rm250 and go ktm250sx or not?
« Reply #15 on: June 10, 2013, 04:29:36 AM »
well, i though about it today....i got everything on the rm to the way i like it, except for the brakes! lol............why get rid of it.....its clean, i know its history...
believe u me. i really like the 2011 ktm 2 strokes, but im not sure its enough to start over.

i need the brakes more like a ktm....at least the front. i went to the crf250 front master cylinder, line and caliper, but it needs more. any ideas...will a oversize front rotor due the trick, or do i need steel braided lines? i think once i get this figured out..ill be totally happy

Start by getting some high quality, stiff sintered brake pads. Then you can throw on an oversize rotor if you still feel it needs more. If you still need more after that, Look at a galfer steel braided brake line.

Sounds like you have the RM set up how you want it.
If you buy the KTM you are going to have to do that all again. :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">
Get an over size rotor, some decent pads and maybe a braided line.
If you can find one cheap enough , see if a KTM brembo caliper can be made to fit.
I have a nissin master cylinder with brembo caliper and 280mm Braking rotor. ( TM standard ).
Will out brake anything. ;D

So keep the RM.

I thought 270mm was TM standard. My bad.  Either way TM brakes would stop an M1 abrams tank.

A new rotor, some aggressive sintered pads and a braided line was all it took to get 1 finger stoppie power on my 03 RM.
