 ;D Ofcourse!
I suggest you replace the whole bike while you're putting on new sprockets and chain, just to be safe.

General Two Stroke Talk / Trustworthy Piston and Con-rod Brands??
« on: April 17, 2013, 09:08:47 PM »
Hi All, im looking to get a definitive list of what pistons/conrod brands as generally considered ''safe'' and unsafe to use.

I ask because i have a mitaka/royal conrod in my bike and i have just spent about 700 pound rebuilding the top and bottom end and transmission, i know its not worth leaving a cheapo one in for it to fail and f**k up for the sake of spending 150 more to get a proX rod in there..

(i believe royal and mitaka are the same as they have the same brand logo)

Expert opinions on whether my transmission needs replacing please, its not slipping gears but as u can see the dogs are chipped in places which i imagine will only get worse quickly?

Is it actually neccessary to replace the chain and sprockets at the same time or is this just renthals way of selling more stuff?

They claim if you only replace the chain, old sprockets will wear the new one out a lot faster, what do you guys do?, is their any truth in this?

General Two Stroke Talk / 2 Stroke Rev Limits

you shift just before it falls off the pipe, if it keeps pulling to your braking point no worries. but you should feel when it runs itself out power, it will just stop pulling and flatten out(just make noise).

ok so what your saying is don't worry about it, as long as it theres no risk of damaging it i think thats the best option as it is limiting my riding, im gonna just strangle it frm now on!

General Two Stroke Talk / Chrome Frame CR250

I remember the nickel plated frames. You were talking about a steel framed CR weren't you ash?

I was actually thinking of the newer frames, think there ally, they have a bit more surface area, although now you say it the old frames could look a bit more tasteful ha

that would be goony ash, unless you raced on the streets of baltimore.

Haha yeah i know, but i'm a sucker for a trick looking bike, and id love to be able to pull a wheelie like those baltimore lads (not that the chrome is gonna help me do that ha)

General Two Stroke Talk / 2 Stroke Rev Limits

Ok so i was wondering exactly how far can you rev your 2 stroke, i know they dont have rev limiters as such, to what point can you keep the throttle on full before you need to change up a gear?

I find i probably change gear way to early cos im conscious of blowing the engine (if thts possible), just after its been in the powerband for a few seconds, i know this is not right as when you listen to pros riding two strokes they maintain that really high revving sound, and you cant even really tell when they have changed gear, its like a continious noise.

So at what point do you all change gear, ive heard of people saying a technically sound engine can rev up to 20,000 rpm. what are your thoughts?

I was thinking of a project bike i would like to do in the future, and one idea i cant get out of my head is buying a good condition cr250 and getting the frame chromed completely something like this http://surfcitychrome.com/files/page0_4.jpg

What do you all think, do you recon it would add a significant amount of weight? (not gonna race it, just want it to be rideable)

I have a ktm 150 sx. But im not really a big fan of the orange. I really like green and the look of the kawi 4 strokes, but i dont want everyone to think ive tried to make my ktm to look like a kawi.

My point being does anyone know of any graphics kit makers who make graphics that arnt color co-ordinated to the bike brand.
It would be nice to make your bike look exactly how you like it!
