General Two Stroke Talk / Re: 2000 CR250R Video. Check it!

Nice!  Once it cools down here a bit I am going to get some video time on my Husky WR250 on our short but fun 2 mile trail loop.  Love the sound!

Ya, the Mikuni was just too sensitive to any changes, and the bike would not respond well.  The Airstryker is awesome and we sell a lot of them!

The 250 2T has the power advantage...the 250 4T has the traction advantage...in the right hands either bike is better based on conditions and terrain.

We have been selling a lot of the JD Jet Kits, and for my 2009 Husky WR250 a popular mod was fixing the stock jetting, and the stock Mikuni carb.  Since the stocker was very touchy to the slightest changes, I wanted to try one of the carbs that we sell on my own bike.  My bike has tons of low-end and midrange but fell flat on top.  This carb kept the same low and mid, and gave the bike some much needed over-rev.  It was easy to install and making changes is easy of course.  What a difference in starting, my stock Mikuni would not idle no matter what I did, and if you tilted the bike on its side the slightest bit, or left the gas on it would come out of the overflow just as if the bike was laid on its side.  FMF Gnarly pipe to come next...!

How old is the spark arrestor?  I had a YZ465 with an old spark arrestor on it one time.  The old packing was so clogged with oil and spooge the bike would not run for long periods before dying.  Just a thought.

+2 on the thrust washers.  It only take one out of place to loose the engagement!

What type of pre-mix are you using?

There is a link to their MC products.  Let me know if you want to try some gearbox oil.

I'm finally coming to the end of my 78 YZ 100 rebuild (btw, thanks to all who have helped, it was very much appreciated) Anybody have any sugestions on what kind of oil to out in the transmission and fuel mix? I've heard of people using 10w-40, 85w gear oil, and even ATF for the trans as long as what ever they used is a good quality and is changed often, the same would apply to my 78 YZ wouldn't it?  I'm running a 25-1 fuel to oil mix in my other 2 strokes (using Lucas semi synthetic 2 cycle oil) can I run the same mix in my YZ? I know it varies depending on what type of oil used. Any help is appreciated, thanks

I have been using Motul Transoil Expert 10W40 for years in racing and trail riding. Never one internal issue with clutch or gearbox.  I am a site sponsor, if you want a liter to try out, let me know - I will hook you up.

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: RM250 for 2012 ('08 model)

They have been making these still in Europe.  My guess is they have not changed anything since then, and may re-introduce them again.  Hopefully the price stays the same, that is a deal!

Keep the four-stroke and tuck it away for many years.  Then in 20 years it will be a part of "Motocross History" for the brief time that four strokes were around for MX.   ;D ;D

I had one of these awhile back.  I forgot how simple they are, and how easy they were to work on.  A lot of people did that back in the day with the 175 top-end.  It completely changed the bike and the power by adding that 175 cylinder!

You could try it, but it may be easier getting a white fender from another year of the YZ ;)
