Mike Horban Qualified for Washougal on a yz250
« on: July 23, 2011, 01:53:51 PM »
When the gate was about to drop i heard the amazing sound of a two stroke along with a white puff of smoke coming out of a bike sorrounded by four bangers.  Mike was running 26ish before he went off the track unfortunately.  Lets hope he is able to make it out for the 2nd moto to do some damage on those japanese companys and there beloved four strokes.

Whats with YZ250's at washougal? So far all they do there is break down lol.

Note to self, stay away from Washougal.

He could have just crashed and tweaked his bars, but you could be right too.  Atleast it didnt break during qualifying.

The bike blew up a couple laps into the moto.  He actually had no intention of racing that bike, he brought a brand new 2012 KX450F to tech and the AMA told him to take it home, wasn't legal.  Kawi hadn't submitted the bike for the homoligation rule yet so he was forced to unload the YZ.  Thankfully it wasn't a newer YZ because those aren't submitted or legal either even though it's the same freaking bike.

He definitely intended on racing the YZ.

The 2012's are up to speed as far as being legal to race without a doubt.

Technically if they turned him away on a 2012 kx450f and he wanted to race the YZ in place of- he'd still be racing a illegal bike since it was a 2005 model.

Yes and no! He did seize the bike a couple of laps in but he did fully plan on riding the bike. He was scheduled to pick up his new KX fro his sponsor Power Motorsports of Sublimity on Wednesday before the race. Not sure of what bike he was going to have and the time frame he sign up with his own play bike a YZ250. He actually wanted to ride the 2 stroke though and it was already setup suspension-wise for outdoor. Other that that it was BONE STOCK! No pipe or anything. The homogolation deal on the KX is not correct. They are Homogolated.

I know that a YZ 250 is down on HP vs the 450 but why everyone who tries to race a national on one thinks they have to tune it on the very ragged edge to compete.
You can't win if you don't finish.

Everyone always speaks of the HP numbers but id like to see a torque comparison between say a 2012 250sx and a new 450

There would not be much in it. 2-3ft/lbs.
Main difference is the curve on the 450 is flatter.
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough
