For Sale / Re: 1992 KX500 $2500.00 obo

I know the price is on the high side of NADA. However this one is ready to race, and all sorted out. NADA doesn't really take into cosideration of the BNG aspect of certain bikes. YZ 125's are a great example, if you had a clean 06 and an equally clean 2010, both stock the only difference between the two would be a couple of thousand $,and graphics, basically the same. Now let's say we found an extremely clean 06 and a rough 2010. Kelly is going to say the 2010 is still worth alot more. Just my perspective. On the note of you trying to sell the katoom 125. Here in Texas Dallas/Fort Worth are is ground zero for KTM. If you did Craigs there, you may have some good luck. Every NPS auction I go to in Dallas KTM's bring far right of book. even if they are rough.

I am sorry, was going to try and video today when she rode but I was too discumbubalated with the heat and all. Today was the first time I had ventured back out since the surgery and was kinda out of it. spent most of the day watching from the shade and walking around reaaally slow, trying not to trip and fall. It's unbelieveable how much even a minor surgery takes out of you. I'm sure I'll be up to more by Sunday, and will get some fresh video while the track is nice and loamy. Thanks

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all of your support. It means alot to Steph as well. She really takes pride in flying the 2t banner in a sea of 250f's. There is nothing that sounds sweeter than that of a 125 screaming so high that the dogs start howling. Thanks again, Andy.

It's kinda a shame the chinese have stopped importing any of the 2t scooters. Some of them did perform very well. TGB ( out of Taiwan) sold a pizza delivery scooter that was offered as a125cc 4t or a 5occ 2t. The 50cc 2t ran a touch over 40mph with me on it and it was bone stock. That companies 2t's ran very very well. I do think we will see more chinese and korean offroad bikes eventually, and of alot better quality. I just think it will take them time to understand what they need to do to be taken seriously in the offroad market. Their focus to date has been to go with quantity over quality, and focus on cheap transportation. If they do decide to go after the off-road market in earnest there will be alot of Lifan's, TGB's etc... on the starting lines. Remember, people laughed at Hyundai 20 years ago and look at them now. Some of the nicest cars around.
The head honcho behind Lifan was jailed by the Chinese communists for 20 odd years because of his ambitions. When they decided to embrace some elements of capitalism the party members set him free and told him to go to work. Now Lifan products such as motorcycles, automobiles and trucks are sold around the globe and the owner, now well into his 70s,shows no signs of slowing down.

Yeah the motors seem to make good power. It's only a matter of time before the rest of the bike gets better. I wish I could remember which magazine (Racer X, or Transworld maybe) I saw it in but a few years back someone hooked up with one of the Manufactures' and set up a proto-type mx bike to race. Looked pretty good but never worked very well. It was a very interesting article though. I'll try to find it if I can.

Beautiful trails, and the temperature even looks comfortable! Here in south Texas we are already 99-100deg in the shade, and not a drop of rain.I am so jealous. But, I digress. Down here we used to call this "cowtrailing". Because we would follow all the trails made by cattle and see where they took us. Really alot of fun! Unfortunately most of the land we used to ride isn't open anymore. My friends and I would take off and be gone all day. Exploring and spending time with your buddies was the goal. For anyone who hasn't done it, they should try it at least once, before all the open land is shut down. As many have said "take time to smell the roses", Cowtrailing is a great way to do it. BTY I thought the video was really cool. Keep um' comeing! The AW is a 77', right? Great bike! Thanks for putting the video up.

I saw more than one new fi 250f's just sputter and die, only to restart after a few minutes at the Amatuer day after the National this last weekend at Freestone. Looked like a fuel problem possibly. ?

Not having seen the fuel delivery system, I'm curious if the fuel is pulling away from the pickup during extreme slosh situations, like you'd encounter during a jump....
Not sure about the pickup location. Cavitation(not sure if this is really the term I'm looking for) might be happening in the pump itself due to the extreme heat and HIGHLY Oxygenated fuels these guy's use in the 4t's. Either way I know it's a scary thing to have to worry about heading to a 50-60ft double.

I have some experience with the Lifan brand (bought a z-50 copy). The little 50 worked great for puttin around the neighborhood. You could definately tell it wasn't a Honda though. If a kid was let loose on one, it probably wouldn't last a day.One of my friends on the other hand bought one of thse really small 4 wheelers for his kid. It was supposed to be a 50cc, found out later it was a 110cc motor( no gov. and waaaaay too fast for a 50). Most of the stuff I have seen didn't look like it was built very well, and neither did this 4 wheeler. However, 4 year later it's still running and gets the guts wrung out of it each time it gets started. He replaced all the tires due to wear and they cost almost 1/2 of the original price of the 4-wheeler.
Lifan apparently makes decent motors, and are a popular swap for atc70's.

I am very happy to hear that. I really hope to see more girls and women on the track. Some of the closest racing is in the women's classes, and I have yet to meet any of Steph's fellow racers that are not really nice. One race not long ago Steph and another woman traded the lead at least 6-7 times in both motos. People were on the fence chearing them both on. It was really cool. Here are a couple of video's from Austin Del Valle a few weeks ago.We were working corners, and a rhythm section.
That is great! Showed my 13 year old daughter this thread. She is pumped!

Where are you from? CR is home track
We are from San Antonio. Both of us love Cycle Ranch. Some of the best dirt around, and the people are really nice. Steph went out Sunday with her Mom. I am stuck here on the couch, I had surgery Friday and they have me on lockdown for 8-10 days . It was really weird not being there with her. She told me she rode well, but was wasn't really comfortable doing the back to back doubles before the catchers mit w/o me there. We usually go out every Sunday because on Saturdays I help out @ Extreme Powersports (James is her sponsor). But with her going to Ponca and doing the WMA cup we haven't been in town much lately. She's got a race on the 25th& 26th in Decatur Texas for the last qualifier, but she only has to race the 25th to be sure she makes the top twelve in the 125 two stroke class (she's already locked in for the women's). So after the race on the 25th we'll drive striaght back to Floresville so she can ride the first round of the Texas Summer series. Long drive to make both races but, I think it's worth it, as we should all support our home tracks. We'll be out this Thursday, and Sunday( if I can ride along by then, otherwise she'll be with Mom ). If you are there come over and visit. I bought a big white van to make the trips easier (it has her # on the hood). We usually park right down the hill between the showers and the water tower.
