For Sale / 2007 (2010) RM 250 for sale - 15 hours - SOLD!!

2007 RM 250 100% stock bought brand new in mid 2010.
I'm giving up MX and moving towards Enduro and trail riding (KTM 300 in my sights).  I bought it from a dealer that had it in a crate in August of 2010.  I broke my collar bone and separated my shoulder a month later, after about 10 hours of riding.  This year, I've put 0 hours on the track and maybe 5 hours on the farm (probably less).

I changed the oil every other ride.  There's the typical small dents on the factory pipe (small) and normal boot scuffs on the frame.  The front fender has a few scratches on it and I replaced the brake lever for a shorter one.  The factory tire still has 75% knobby left on it and the bike runs perfect and is super clean.  It's practically brand new.  I can post a picture if needed, but really all you need to do is look online since mine is bone stock and almost new.  $3,100 OBO, I live in Taylorville, Illinois

I used to be 6'8" but I've lost almost an inch due to long sustaining a back injury.

87 to 01 CR500 engines are very close to the same. 89 and up used an extra plate in the clutch stack, and routed the water spigot mount a little different.
Most of the CR500's in my area were trail ridden or made into hillclimbers. Very few made it to the tracks because the tracks were too tight to get them out of third gear.
If it has a truely rebuilt motor, you will get quite a few years of riding out of it with little maintainence.

Cool, thanks....it has 3 hours on the rebuild.  I'm wanting it for a trail riding and to have for a future project.  It has mismatched & faded plastic, but the way it looks, I think new plastic, pipe and aluminum cleaning solvent, it'll look great.  I've ridden a KX 500 twice (was an adrenaline rush!), have many years of experience on 250's but at 6'7" 235 lbs, I want something a little more powerful than my 250 for open areas.  I may look into de-tuning the engine, if I go decide to make my own "Service Honda".  It's pretty sad and funny that I have to de-tune it to make it more competetive with the 450's  :P

That's just about the same bore & stroke combination as 1 cylinder of a 327 Chevy V-8......

Just think if a 327 Chevy was a 2 stroke (roughly 5,360cc's) in a 1900lb car and there would be an equal power (or moreso engine size) to weight ratio comparison to a CR640.  CRAAAAZY!!!

Any impressions on that year motor or transmission?
Is there anything I need to look for or to check on that particular year?

Although it was a positive thing. It always gets said, he did this, or did that, "on a 2 stroke."  I wish they would actually say the truth, and say, on a bike that is disadvantaged due to cc's allowed.

It mentioned, sort of.

3. Two-Strokes are Still Alive: In the 450 Class there were actually two two-stroke 250cc riders who made the 40-man main event. Local privateer Ty Newcome made the main and finished 31st overall on his Yamaha YZ250, with Ohio's Jeff Gibson finishing 32nd aboard his KTM 250 pre-mixer. It was good to hear the Braap again.

Im pretty sure i saw Newcome as high as 23rd, but why does no one attempt to qualify on a 125 i cant help but think itd be easier to overcome a 125cc deficit compared to 200
A 250f has twice the CC of a 125. A 450 has under twice the CC of a 250. Just because there is less of a difference 250 to 125, it is not easier.

Anybody know how they came out?

Gibson went 32-25 and Newcome went 35-22. No overalls posted ye

does anyone know the limit on how old a bike can be to race in ama supercross/motocross and if say the rm's were passed that limit could someone import one from england or somewhere they are still imported and still be legal to race it?

Agreed. Again, the alternative is valves, cams, chains, rockers, tappets, keepers, guide, seals, etc, etc, etc. I'll take my oil injection and enjoy it thank you!  ;D

I like a rule change alternative better.  The 2 stroke would benefit more from that at the pro level than anything.  THEN others will follow KTM and implement chassis improvements if they bring back their smokers.

only problem with 'dry' bottom ends is the lubrication issue(how do we get the oil to where it's needed) and the that fuel cools the metal.

Dry sump oiling system SHOULD work, but then again would need a reservoir tank, cooler and oil pump and complete engine re-design.  HELLO 15 more pounds.

Yeah, I don't like it, because it's just going to make a 2 stroke EASIER to ride, much like a 4 stroke.  Less skilled riders will benefit (good or bad??).  It's great for leveling the playing field against 4 strokes, but when you start adding too much programming, it takes away from the roots of the sport.  It'll just increase the overall expense, unless it's a mechanical direct injection.  It's pretty much the motocross version of traction control, in a way.  I'm sort of on the fence about it.

I almost went with the 300 kit for my KX, kind of regret not doing it now. That RM is clean and I bet its a blast to ride!

I want to hear what that beast sounds like!
