General Two Stroke Talk / TSM Amateur team?
« on: September 10, 2013, 10:21:28 PM »
We all know that the 250 two stroke in the amateur ranks are eligible to race against the 250 thumpers as well as the 450 classes. Anyone think a TSM Amateur Team would be cool to see in the amateur scene in the coming years if the support is there? Pick a few riders that are capable to go to Loretta's in not only the A classes, but maybe pick a B class, and a schoolboy class rider. Personally I would like to see some hard working guys that can't afford $30,000 250f/450's to go out there with a quality, TSM supported 125, 250/300 two stroke and help get their name out there for the future. It's all just a thought, but maybe a possible one in the future in the right scenario.  ;D

General Two Stroke Talk / KTM 250sx jetting
« on: April 21, 2013, 10:35:44 PM »
I plan on doing a 39mm oval bore with my ktm 250 this week instead of keeping the 36mm stock bore. instead of playing around with jetting, i was wondering if anybody had some good jetting specs that they could share with me to save time or at least point me in the right direction. The elevation is about 1000 feet for my area.

General Two Stroke Talk / OK EVO,it was your idea........

as an AA rider that has scored pro-am points on two-strokes, I have ridden both. Both the yz and ktm are great 250's. Both have some unique charasteristics. I may not be the world's greatest test rider, but here is my take on things between the 2 when both are stock. The KTM has a harder hit for more experienced riders in stock form than the yz. Sure, you can adjust that with something as simple as disconnecting a wire or changing out the power valve spring, but in stock form the Yami is more user friendly to the average rider. The forks, no contest. The SSS is great stuff. The WP stuff has come a long way and isn't bad by any means now with the american spec spring rates. I feel like the KTM has surpassed the YZ in the handling department now just with chassis feel and the comfort level right away on it. In the motor department, you really can feel those extra 2-3 hp that the ktm has on the hills especially. Lastly, the transmission I would have to give the nod to the YZ. That close ratio gearbox is the cats meow IMO. Like I said both are good bikes. The yamaha is outdated as far as advancements go, but still a solid user friendly bike. If I had to pick one I would pick the KTM though because the motor is snappy, it pulls harder on the hills and just felt more comfortable to me. It corners like a dream while still remaining stable at higher speeds. Feel free to argue as I am just voicing my personal opinions about my adventures on both  ;D ;D

General Two Stroke Talk / 2001 cr 250 HELP
« on: February 06, 2013, 10:07:52 PM »
well i was going to use this for some LLQ's and local races. I'm in the process of getting my pro license for the U.S. Nationals and have had a bad string of luck with 06-08 rm's lately so i'm wanting to start out with a project that I know has a great track record and a ton of potential. suspension would be first in line, but in order to be competitive with 48hp 250f's I just need some direction on some mods to get some more juice out of the powerplant. cycle playground is only an hour and a half from me so that would be a logical place to call up and see what he can do for it. does matching the cases make much of a difference?

alright guys i know this bike is a hot topic when it comes to TSM. I'm thinking about picking up a decent used '01 cr 250 for $1000. the thing is, is that I race the A class and i really want to know what I can do to it to make this thing straight up haul. I want to make this motor as fast as it can be, but still reliable because I am on a $2500 budget for it (that includes purchasing it). Eventually I would do an 02-07 frame conversion with it, but im focused on the motor as of right now. Any ideas of where I should start? and how much hp i could get out of it when it's all said and done?
