Technical / '96 RM125 fork rebuild. Need specs/procedure
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:35:12 PM »
I need to rebuild the forks on my '96 RM125, but my stupid Clymer manual has something mixed up. My bike has conventional (non-USD) forks, and according to the Suzuki parts fiche, '97-'98 do also. The '95 has USD forks, though.
Anyway, my manual shows the '89 RM125 having conventional forks (though they look different than my '96s) but all later years having USD forks. Therefore I don't really have the instructions and specs I need to rebuild my forks. Does anyone know where I could find the actual fork rebuild manual and specs for my bike?  Maybe a Suzuki factory shop manual?  I'd even be happy with just the instructions and capacities for changing the oil and adjusting the rebound, etc.

Technical / '96 RM125 cylinder interchange?
« on: August 13, 2011, 12:08:00 AM »
My RM has a junk cylinder and I'm having a hard time finding a replacement.  The '96 cylinder was a one-year part.  Does anyone know if any other years of RM125 cylinders will work on a '96? The part numbers are different for different years, but the exhaust valves, cylinder heads, base gaskets, and other parts are the same from '96-'98. I know that sometimes a manufacturer will change a part number for an insignificant change that has no effect on the part's interchangeability.  Or maybe the porting was slightly revised and a '97 or '98 cylinder will still work on my '96.  Anyone have any insight?

For Sale / First post here. '96 RM125 project needs a new cylinder.
« on: August 12, 2011, 10:50:11 PM »
Hey guys.  This is my first post here.  I recently brought home a '96 RM125 in sorry shape.  I'm fixing it up with the intention of getting a start in AMA enduro and hare scrambles racing.  The rebuild is going well, but the cylinder turned out to have been sleeved by the PO.  Not a big deal, but the sleeve is cracked at the exhaust port bridge.  I haven't head of resleeving a cylinder that has already been sleeved, but I imagine that it could be done.
I'd rather get a stock plated cylinder and go from there, though.  The '96 cylinder is a one-year-only part and I can't find one for sale anywhere.  Does anyone here have one that they'd sell me?  It need not be in great shape.  I plan on having it replated if necessary.  Sorry that my first post is begging for parts, but I really want to get this thing going and this is going to hold me up.  Thanks a lot.
