Suzuki RM250 K7 - Strange problem
« on: March 14, 2012, 07:49:50 PM »
Hello guys

Today I went riding after I rebuild topend 2h ago. I rode for about an hour in the woods low rpm, nothing special. After I finished in the woods I went in the open, to "clean" it a little bit and did some accelerations. After that my bike started to smoke really bad and you could smell something is burning. I looked throe silencer and it was glowing red inside, but exhaust was not hot you could almost touch it. Why would happen something like that. I turned it off just to cool it inside the silencer and after that bike started first kick. The bike works normal btw.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure how often its recommended to change the packing, I'm sure someone else here does. But, I don't think it would hurt to check your pipe and make sure there is no unusual blockage or debris in there. Take it apart, and if the packing is oil soaked or dirty or whatever, its more than likely time to change it.
