Help with 101 on 2 strokes

Howzit everyone, I would really appreciate it if everyone could post all the information they know about 2 strokes, I know a bit about them ( I have a KTM 250sx and a Husqvarna sm 125) and would like to learn more about them, especially the technical side, anything and everything about 2 strokes, please!! Really, troll this site and you'll find a treasure trove of 2-stroke technical information, historical data, and associated mumbo jumbo.

You could write a book or 3 with all this stuff!

Hm... where to start. Check out the "Technical" section of this site if you want to know how they work and stuff, and all the other places here talk about everything else you will ever need to know. If you can't find what your looking for, there is always someone here who can help.

Run the best 2T mix you can find,let your machine warm up,keep the filter and tran. oil clean and you'll be off to a good start. ;D

Install a turbo...get cross drilled break lines (this is a must....serious injuries can result from not making this mod) be sure to grease ur exhaust bearing regularly, keep ur cylinder return spring in spec (reference the manufacturers maintenance manual for this) and for god sakes keep an eye on your power band...make sure it doesn't corrode or dicolor and look up the specs and replace when it shows more than acceptable wear....my cr125 is on its fifth power band now...I've upgraded from the factory red one to the xxxblack model and its insane

If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

Bear in mind this was written in '73 and is still relevant today.Technology has changed and advanced some things but the principles are still the same.

All you need to know to go fast on a two stroke is a few key things... First of all, throw away the air filter, that is slowing the air intake and you down plus you will shed a few pounds. I used to hate when I would check mine after a year to see it covered in mud. I can actually feel the bike is lighter. Toss the fenders those just get in the way, plus you cant even see your tire wtf... Install a purple powerband, they are the best. Loosen the chain pretty loose, usually around 7 fingers works the best. And if you really need to shed some more weight, toss the silencer. Don't forget to wear your seat belt.

Don't forget to check your headlight fluid, and always keep your conifler pin tight  ;D  8) Couldn't resist to use that one after it worked so well on an unsuspecting customer at the shop  :P

It's all about the Flux Capacitor.
Red ones work the best.
There is an old lady down the road that makes strawberry flavoured pink ones which are nearly as fast as the red, but taste better.
