Alright I want to race motocross next year and I either want the YZ125 or the YZ250. I'm 5'6 and 125 pounds and I'm 15. I was scared to go past 3rd gear pinned on a 185 4 stroke dirt bike but that was a year ago. Will he YZ125 have the torque of that 185

I always hear the 125 2 strokes don't have any torque. Ive never been to a MX track

If you are a begginer then definitely go with the yz125. If you got yz250 you would most likely kill yourself.

185? Bah, a 125 will destroy the 185. You might want to test ride one, epically if you where scared on a 185cc 4 stroke..

Ok.. if a 185 scared you... reconsider getting a two stroke, because I can tell you now that a 125 will leave you scared, especially if you can't leave 3rd gear on a 185
I'd rather be riding...

YZ250 for you would be probably the worst idea out there, start out on a thumper, never thought I would say this, but, it will be easier at the begining
I'd rather be riding...

KDX 125, if they make that, I think a 200 would still rape an xr
I'd rather be riding...

it will destroy a xr200. The only thing keeping it from competing with a 125 is the extreme weight.

Even better you should start out on an 85 big wheel.

X2.Definitely not the 250 and the 125 may be a little sketch.
If not, search out an old Maico. The low power output is good for beginners, and as an added bonus,it teaches wrenching skills ;)
Seriously,if not an 85 then a smaller fourstroke may be the way to go.
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

An older DT, KDX, PE, an enduro type bike would be better than a MX bike

If you attend a mx school where they will provide bikes it will get you more prepared for it. Definitely do not get the 250. 125 is the way to go. But if you dont take a mx school it will be a big jolt for you.

How long have you been riding? Do you have any two stoke experience? I think a 250 will be overwhelming. Not knowing your skill level but guessing from your first post and also given your size, if you are determined to get only one of the two bikes you mentioned, the 125 for sure.

Please only post the same question once. I am going to merge the other one with this one.
