Bike testing at Budds Creek - TM/KTM/Yamaha
« on: April 05, 2012, 03:10:58 PM »
Hey guys, on May 12th we will be testing some bikes at Budds Creek.

Bikes will include:
TM 300 MX
TM 300 EN
TM 125

KTM 250 SX

Yamaha YZ 250

Let us know what you want to know about. We will give real impressions and write what you guys want to know, rather than what is allowed to get printed by other mags.
Should be fun!

I would love to personally drag race the TM300MX up the hill that is after Henry hill right next to a 450F, which would mean stalking a guy around the track, and just hammering out of that corner and up the hill.  Pretty much everything is rider preference, but I really want to see what that thing will do next to a 450 up that loamy ass Budds Creek hill.  Everything to me should be relative, as "it's fast" and "it's nimble" doesn't really tell people much.  An 84 RM125 is "nimble".

How many people are testing the bikes and what are their skill levels? Just curious of the range of impressions.

I emailed Wozney, told him to come out and film that day.  He makes some of the slickest MX videos on the net.  We'll see what he says, pretty sure he lives around here.

He lives in Delaware, I think I read he moved to NJ though. Either way traveling is what he does. If his schedules open I'm sure he'll be there.

As for testing we will have Ryan Blizzard - Pro
Brennen Weindel (waiting to be confirmed) fast B rider
Still waiting on confirmation from some local am. riders as well.
More info soon.

I think we know what the answer will be to TM125 vs TM300

I am most interested in the 250SX vs 450 and the TM300 vs 450 since NO ONE will do a straight up comparo, not even MXA.

Do lap time comparisons among all the bikes you are testing. Publish the lap times of every rider on every bike.

Publish the MSRPs. If they can't give you the MSRPs, then publish that. At one time, you had to search around to get the price on a TM. It may be better now.

I wonder if Budds would let us borrow a few transponders.  I bet they would if we asked nicely, Charles.

If you want cheap & fast, it won't be good.

My 300's as fast or faster than the 450's i've dragged it against.

as said above, how the 300 compares with the 450 and lap times of each bike with each rider. that is really the most telling of a bikes performance and set up ability
