Banshees made 35hp from the factory, so unless that things modded to hell, its a downgrade from a modern CR250R motor.

That's all  ??? I would have thought a twin cylinder two stroke would be pushing out a bit more than that. But have you seen those nitro methane fueled drag banshees? Those must be pushing a few horses  ;D

Little porting goes a long way with shees, lots of casting flaws... its not unheard of 60hp+ on stock stroke x bore

I doubt very much that , that is standard.

They do better than 35,I've had a couple RZ's-there is a lot of available power in there outside of the mild street tune.
That bike reminds me of the old Yankee 500's-not that anyone else would remember those  :)

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

No matter how much HP it pushes out, you can't say it doesn't look sick with those two expansion chamber sticking out...  8)

no, really man, when the banshee was originally released it was rated at 35hp from the factory.  yes, it doesnt take much more than an encouraging word to get to 60, but 35 off the dealer floor.

have you ever seen the stock pipes?

On a banshee I had, the baffles broke loose inside the pipe and I had to cut it and re weld it to get it out.

Banshee's are corked really bad from factory(35-40hp stock is about standard, and actually what the atc/trx250r made as well). A simple pipe/carb mod gets you into the mid 40's and up, port clean up and your pushing an easy 50-55hp. 400 stroker kits are pushing easy 70-80hp(90+hp on alky). Think of it as a corked rz350 motor without a powervalve.

I've never seen (or heard) a stock Banshee. They always sound like a TZ250.

In the early 90's Yamaha produced a TDR250 - a twin cylinder,2T dual sport.I had one at my business once.

John Taylor was an American business man and was the guy who created the Yankee 500 which was two Ossa jugs on a 6 speed bottom end.He was also the guy who introduced Bultaco to North America,

At the risk of diverging from the topic I recently read an article about a guy who was modifying Triumph desert sleds to 8 inches of travel - in the late 60's.
