Wife authorized a new YZ125...
« Reply #30 on: September 23, 2012, 12:21:05 AM »
In a 125 ONLY contest and I mean ONLY, no 150s, the YZ would be my very first stop no two ways about it. Excellent engine by 125 standards, awesome chassis awesome ergonomics and the best suspension in the game, with the possible challenger of the air fork that I have and probably never will take a spin on.

True.

And you can take the piss all you want about not buying an 06 and spending some coin tarting it up -

but if everyone did that, there won't be any 3 year old '12s in 2015. And hell, maybe yamaha will pull the pin on the yz range on the basis of no sales.  Dangerous slippery slope that one. And it is still a new bike, not one that has been beaten like a red headed stepchild for the last 5 years.

Thats a good point. When buying a used bike there is ALWAYS something that needs replacing and you can never be certain about the safety of it. God knows whats missing or whats been bent or cut.

^^^ yeah Stu, buying a used bike sounds great and all, but the parts can add up quickly. I was set to buy an '08 YZ 125 as an interim bike, but after I looked into it more, I said the hell with it and bought the Katoom... I know there are garage queens out there however...

The previous owner of my 125 stuck a 250F clutch perch on and then cut off the hotstart perch that was on it with an angle grinder :P

No... The hunt has taken a turn. I'm checking out a (hopefully cherry) '10 YZ250 tomorrow. I'll let you know!
