« on: July 17, 2011, 06:59:56 PM »
New update
We had or best day so far on the big bike 2001 cr125 Eric Gorr (134). We raced at Waldo,Florida today and Jake had a 3/5 for a 5th overall his best finish on the 125. Also  he is in 3rd place in the series points. Buy the way the top three bikes are Two-Strokes one 2005 KX250 and a 2009 YZ125 and a 2001 Cr125 Jake. Most of the other bikes are newer four strokes. Also the first moto 3rd place finish the KX250 and YZ125 were behind the old 2001cr125 along with alot of newer 250f's

General Two Stroke Talk / The Lost Generation
« on: April 24, 2011, 05:07:02 PM »
Along with the lost decade we have a Generation of riders that went straight to a 250f from 85s. I know when I raced I spent 3 years on 125's before I moved to a 250 its the natural move up. Thoses of you that have read my post know my 17 year old son rides a cr125. When he turned 16 he moved up to the 125 most of his friends moved to 250f's. Most of them no longer race for various reasons. His move up was a little rocky but he is finaly after a year, riding his bike like a 125 should be ridden. Last week he was on the gas and riding as hard as ever against mostly 250's two and four stroke. I feel bad for the kids who didnt experienced riding a 125. I feel when he moves up to a 250 two stroke he will be ready. A good trend around here is that a lot of the kids are moving up to 125's instead of 250fs. It might be because of the 125 two stroke only class we have . How are things in you part of the country?

General Two Stroke Talk / Fun Sunday at Dade City with 81 YZ 465
« on: April 18, 2011, 07:06:55 PM »
This year to help racers save money and keep racing The Florida Motocross series split into North and South with a double point shoot out at the end. So instead of running 15 races you can run 7 and if you want to run them all there will be special awards for that. So we decided to run the north series along with a few south races.
Well, this sunday we ran our second race of the series. And lots of two strokes the turn out was so so but the weather was great. I had changed the gearing on Jakes bike to get better starts and more oomph on the jumps. The first moto Jake got a bad start he said the gate jumped so he was last into the first turn. He rode very hard and made it up to 3rd by lap two or three but fell back to 4th ahead of the series leader. Second moto Jake wheeled out of the gate and almost flipped, last place into first turn again worked up to 3rd again and fell back to 5th so he finshed 5th overall.

« on: March 16, 2011, 06:33:52 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has seen any satistics if neck injurys have gone down scence the wide spred use of the brace and others. I know when we started using the brace they were showing stats from cart racing and how neck injurys went down when the made the use of a brace maditory. It was David Baileys video about the brace that changed my mind, I made my son watch it also.

General Two Stroke Talk / Daytona Amateur Supercross
« on: March 07, 2011, 08:39:21 PM »
Hello everybody
We went to our first Daytona Amateur Supercross! Had a blast the weather held up and had a really good time. We were told there was about 900 racers from 50cc to 50 year olds. Got there on Saturday for sign up after standing in line for two hours we were signed up. By the way I thought the AMA did a great job with all the riders. Our first time using a transponder and they work great. Two mins. after the race you can get a print out of you  lap by lap with lap times along with everyone else in your race.
On Sunday we started practice at 7:00 am Jakes class 250C had about 75 riders. Three heats and taking only the top 8. Jake was the first heat the computer picked your number to pic your spot on the line Jake was second from last. He was on the out side of the first turn side of the gate. Got an ok start, also for those of you that don't know Jake rides a 2001 CR125 with a Eric Gorr 134 bore The oldest bike I saw. On the start he was 13th out of 28 riders 2nd lap 12th,3rd lap 9th, last lap 10th, We did'nt qualify :(  but still ran good and were fairly pumped. So off to the LCQ 2nd out to pic starting spot next to the box this time. The LCQ is only three laps Gate drops and Jake got pinched off in the first turn then later in the first lap two riders go down in front of him in a corner and he got stuck behind of them race over he finished 17th. By the way that was at about 4:30 pm.

General Two Stroke Talk / New year
« on: February 27, 2011, 04:15:34 PM »
I just wanted to say hi and tell you guys a little about what I've observed so for this year. Our first race of the year was 2-13-11 at Motocross of Marion county also know as Reddick a little town north of Ocala. We got there early on Sunday morning and there was frost on the ground a carpet of white. First thing we got out the propane mister heater to warm up. By 8:30AM the frost melted and it warmed up to about 70. This time of year we have alot of people from up north and it makes it interesting to race some new faces.
The first thing I noticed at practice in the stagging area lots of Two Stroke Smoke!! There realy is a change happening here. One of the guys from upstate New York racing a 2001 cr250 in the B class and finished 3rd out of about 20. A few years ago when you showed up with a Two Stroke people used to laugh you were an odditity and no way you could beat a f4 stroke! Well now they know you can and many are and you can see the switch.
The biggest move here is to 125's Today we went to practice at a new track in Tampa, Eastbay Motocross again lots of Two Stroke Smoke!! Saw a friend of ours that stopped racing for a while he had two CRF250 Honda when we last saw him last year. Now he has two 2008 KTM125's and loves them. " I go way faster on the 125's" our old track now has a 125 class with alot of up and comming riders going to 125's over 250Fs. The kids that were a year of two younger than Jake are now getting off of there 85's and on to 125's and winning. Next week Daytona will let you know how that go's and take some Pics.Wish us good luck!

Every time I go to the local Yamaha dealer they never have any YZ two strokes on the showroom floors not even YZ85's. Some of the local Amateurs have been loooking for new Yz250 and have'nt been able to find any and some have bought KTM's. The dealer has plenty of last years YZ250F's and new ones.

General Two Stroke Talk / Media Bias
« on: April 18, 2010, 02:42:38 PM »
At the track this weekend they were giving away an old  magazine named The Pickle. They were reviewing The 2008 mini O's. They were talking about Malcolm Stewart, Quote " The Kawasaki rider opted to ride 2-strokes for the week, But it didn't seam to be any disadvantage for him as he got consistent starts and set some of the fasted lap times on the track". It was like they were suprised. If the 4stroke was lighter and faster he would have rode one. I wanted to screem! And last year at the FMF Two-stroke race at Buds creek the announcer made reference that he wasnt sure the two-strokes could clear the jumps and of course they did with ease! Its hard to belive how many people fall for these misconception about the two stroke.

Hi John
The Florida Motocross series starts Tomorrow 2-14-10. Jake's first year on on 125. I'm a little nervous but good news,They have  new classes Instead of 125 and 250 class they changed it to 125 two stroke only,250,450 we might be racing in two classes this year. I will let you know how it goes and if the 125 two stroke only class is full or not. I did notice that at our local track they had alot of two strokes practicing the other night, we hadnt been to in a couple months. Good to see!
