Says on that diagram it is from the washington marina - A quick google finds one in DC, across the potomac from ronnie reagan airport.

It's about 2 miles northeast of the runway (using my fat fingers to approximate distance on google maps). Assuming the plane does not turn and stays at the approx north south bearing of the runway, it is probably half a mile east of the plane taking off at whatever altitude the plane is at so that may be up to 3/4 of a mile away.

The 130 is probably next to the thing.

the 104db figure from gravelly point is a park that starts about 500' from the end of the runway, so pretty close, depending on where they put the meter.


and for racerx - Manowar, viking metal rockers formerly of auburn NY, (home of frozen ocean mx, useless tidbit of the day) has recorded noise levels of up to 139dB.

Actually it is mxsports the promoter/davey coombs with that say. In the amateur stuff (under the AMA) it is 250=250, but the AMA sold off the rights to promoters for pro racing a few years back and davey runs the show.

There are many kinds of emissions. smoke is a particulate emission. To say that a diesel truck only emits steam is crap.

CH4 + 2 O2 ? CO2 + 2 H2O + energy

Buttload of CO2 there...

the more fuel burned the more CO2 emitted. yeah the stinker may emit more particulate, but if it is only burning a fraction of the hydrocarbon it physically can not produce as much CO2, NOx or any other kind of emission.

I honestly believe there is nothing more awesome than raw 125 racing. Bunch of kids with more testosterone than sense on a bike that needs to be wrung out. Does it get better? Why yes it does, when you're actually on the gate with them

To watch, yeah. To be out there with a bunch out out of control kids whose mummy and daddy pay their medical bills is a good way to get injured and when you have to go to work the next day that ain't fun.

I like the o'neal ones.

a little longer than the fox/shift ones and don't stretch out. Being longer the elastic on my knee pads don't cut into my leg like it does with the fox ones.
