« on: May 10, 2011, 02:37:02 PM »
i just bought my nephew a 96 pw 80 with the oil injection disabled and it wont go into 1st gear. i can fix the first gear problem but should i fix the oil injection or just leave it alone and keep mixing gas.

To me it would depend on:

1) If the pump even works.
2) I would look at how they blocked off the pump to see what kind of work was involved there to hook it back up.

If I didn't like the answer to either of those I would probably just mix gas LOL.

Little kids tend to keep pouring gas into a bike but forget to put oil into the oil injection. :-XI would just leave it as is and run premix.

looks like he just pulled the tubes out of the oil injector and blocked off the carb tube. the holes on the cover were not blocked and its full of dirt

Just be a little careful here,by pre mixing the fuel without jetting changes, you can actually create a lean fuel/air mixture on these little beasts, with potential seizures. Yep had it happen.

I do both on the PW50. Oil injector works, I keep the oiltank filled, and run 40:1 premix just in case.
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.
